Hello. I need your opinion on what is the best CMS script/platform that is suitable for a school/university website. please share your experience here. thanks in advance!
nice! just find it out & it's open source. thats great! btw, do u know what is the theme for the univ. site currently in use? look nice also. -------------- any other opinion?
Actually my university uses Plone. WebGUI is used at my campus' site. Sorry for confusing you. Don't know which theme it uses though.
You should really also at least take a look at PHP-Fusion…… http://www.php-fusion.co.uk The new version 7 is almost just out, so there is not as many infusions and themes as for version 6 – however the forum supports are excellent and version 7 infusions and themes will grow in numbers……..you can of cause also make your own infusions/themes to make a really unique site. ........and it is free to use also
Joomla isn't bad but it is, imho, too bloated and tons of abundant markup. I would go with something lighter. Wordpress might be a good choice, too. Depends on how will the universities website look.
drupal .. I don't know which sites use it but I'm sure there are quite a few .... this might help too http://opensig.comets.wisc.edu/?q=book/export/html/24
I'd recommend using Elgg.org it's a social network software made for educators, but useful even for non education networks, or also if you're wanting to host classes and such online then Moodle is hands down the best solution...
Do NOT use Handshakes for it. And DONT use his affiliate link he just "advice" you to earn 30% of affiliate sales. I recommend Joomla! FREE!!!
haha... btw, thanks guys! so many info here! thanks again! will check it out. i'll try Joomla at the moment i think... seems, the templates also looks nice & pro...
Joomla! have everything.... Its free, have a big community and support, much templates and plugins (free and paid). First try Joomla! if youre not satisfied you can ALWAYS look for a paid system
