I see a lot of websites listed in google with very little content. No links, advertising, or blogs, all the things that people say to use to get listed. How do they get listed without using anything?
I just asked a similar question in a different part of the forum. I have a highly optimized website with good keyword density, lots of fresh helpful content, and almost 200 backlinks. But my site only gets on the second page of Google. Some of the top 10 sites though have very little content and only like 10 backlinks from places that aren't exactly relevant. I can't help...but hopefully someone else can chime in and help us both.
I don't know what your keywords are, but page 2 isn't that bad - especially if it's a competititve market you're in. Give it time - google changes here and there, maybe it'll move up to the 1st page sooner than you think.
How can this be acheived? Cant be done manually as it would take a very long time (or employ lots of people, which would cost a fortune). So I expect it can be done automatically? How? I thought Google woudnt take too kindly with that amount of backlinks being added quickly and your site could end up penalised.
what site are we talking about all it needs if for google to crawl it and if it has nice/relevant info then it will be listed
It's difficult to say anything about Google. You may wish to check out my recent article about google dance. Google cannot rank you high without thousands of links to your site. Also, for better traffic, high indexing is required. Create content regularly and get them indexed fast. Unless you reach at least PR3, you can't get consistent traffic from google. About the website you mentioned, it may be an old domain, which had several backlinks, and long term backlinks. Better check it in Yahoo site explorer to see how many links it actually has.
Everyone always says "content is king" and "backlinks are the most important thing." While I believe they are both important, I am still not convinced that's all it takes. I don't want to give any niches/keywords away...but for one keyword I'm targeting, one of the top 5 sites has very little content on a single page, and ONLY 5 backlinks, and those are from website directories.
Google uses numerous means to find sites that may not have any backlinks, including Whois data... At first I thought you meant to ask how sites get listed (indexed) by Google without any links. There are many reasons why pages with few backlinks and little content can be found in the top 10 of Google. - The sites could be in very uncompetative niches and have the most relevant content to the keyword you found it with. - Sites are often given a boost upon launch, which is a part of what people mean when they talk about the 'Google dance'. In less than uber competative niches sites can appear near the top of the serps for a short time. - Google also fallible and makes mistakes, allowing spammy sites to rank well.
So a few people on hear say you need to add thousands of more backlinks. My experience is that's just not true. I have dozens of websites on the first page of google that only have less than 200 links. I have a pr3 site that rules the top 5 positions for several keywords and it only has 24 links. It's not only about links. You haven't given a lot of other information so it's hard to say. Noone has mentioned domain age yet though. That's a factor that is considered in the Google algorithm. There are still several sites with great google rankings that haven't even been updated or had links built to them in years. They maintain their position mostly from domain age and trust. Joeblogs mentions some other great reasons as well. People focus on links a lot because they're easily measurable compared to some of the other factors. Links are NOT the only factor the Big G considers though when ranking a site.
It just takes time to get a site up and around. Its maybe like a "weed out the junk phase" done by search engines. Get lots of backlinks. My site is just 3 months old and I have over 2000. Posting on blogs that offer a most commented side bar with links on it. You would be featured on every page of the blog and it ads a lot of links fast. Many blogs do this and it can send you thousands of links in no time. The thing is you have to keep it up or the links dissapear if your not a top commentator. I tried it for a while but now have not done it in maybe a month and I still have 2000+ backlinks.
200 backlinks takes about an hour or two to get, once you get 10-20k backlinks without seeing results is when you should question it
200 backlinks in one hour? How are you doing that? I use social bookmarking, article writing, blog commenting, forum posting, etc....but it still takes a few weeks to get close to 200 backlinks.
Good question. Maybe there link farms, which aren't good for ranking well in SE's, or passing PR. If not link farms, and Gallito, you're being honest, then how?
