    Hey :)

    Do you guys think the nofollow code should be used for the comments section on a blog? Does it really stops spam/spammers?

    I don't think so. It just prevent search engine bots to follow the link.

    I agree with you mate, infact after doing a detailed research, ive just finished writing an article on Why and How to remove nofollow from your blog.

    Would like to see comments on it..

    No it doesn't. The nofollow microformat only states that they do not assign any value to the link. There is nothing in the rules stating that they cannot follow it.

    If you enable dofollow then you should be ready to moderate your comment queue with more scrutiny. In my experience it does not stop spam - the vast majority of comment spam is automated. However, allowing dofollow will get you plenty of visits from half-wits paid to make comment posts that usually evade spam filtering.

    It wont cut down on the amount of spam you get. Most spam is done by autobots which dont care whether its no follow or do-follow. You might get an increase in human spam but you should moderate your posts anyway so its no extra work
