yep, I am not a bad blogger now cos I have spent at least two years blogging. Of course, during that time I had to learn a lot to improve myself to become a better blogger. Now I want to launch a forum, and I am a newbie in this field. I don't know how to get traffic, how to earn, how to marketing etc. May you, pro guys, tell me more about forum and how to earn? Can you tell me some resources or some books to read about this. Thanks
Generally forums earn revenue from advertising, so you have to rely on high traffic. PPC ads generally have a pretty poor CTR on forums though. Alternatively some forums have paid for subscription sections, though you of course have to ensure your content is worth paying for!
Forums rely so much on a community, you need to have users who are going to keep coming back and make the place seem active and a place new users want to continue comeing too. Get some of your friends/web friends to drop by the forum often, so as to when new visitors come it looks like the forum is active, word will then spread and you should have a decent user base. Good Luck Tom
I think you know all how to earn. advertise there, you can get extra. add good content so visitors will atract and get hug traffics.
Hi, yes first build a community using friends & people who you know, then build on this & once activity grows then thorugh networking thorugh other sites the forum will grow itself because PPC advertising is an expensive way to start leading traffic to a forum as this forum is mentioned on various other top sites...isnt it.
Its a numbers game. You can start by getting some decent CPM banners to get the money ticking in and work on building up the membership base slowly.
You can generate new sign ups and traffic to your forum by posting to classifieds and other free forum posts by offering free unlimited advertising with limited restraints. Once your membership has grown then slowly weed out and activate other controls so you can sell adversities to purchasers.
you could also offer paid subscriptions and offer extra features to so people sign up for that service.
Forums are little difficult to work than blogs. They need content from users. So you need traffic to start with a forum. There is paid posting service that you can start in the begining to work, and once you got content, you can advertise on other forums in the same niche. Hope this would give you some idea.
If you have huge topics , i bet you won't be able to handle it yourself. You may assign certain people that you already know and share advertising profits with them.
You could try to run some sort of contest or give some other incentive to those that are active in your forum in the beginning. Perhaps you give the first ____ number of new members a free product or report. It's always the hardest getting it started, but once the community kicks in, your board will take on a life of its own. Hope that helps.
Just do the same like you did it for your blogs. The only difference is you have to get high traffic for forums to make some decent $$...as the CTR is very low in forums.
Whatever you do, don't use one of those free forum hosting websites. If you want to use phpbb3, download it and host it on a free server. You need a good design for your forum, because first impressions are what determine if a visitor will click out of your site. Make your forum look active, you may want to hire people to post on your forum until it can run on its own, or you can host a contest, have a prize for the highest posting member. Good Luck
