Look at the page source and see if the link has rel="nofollow". That is a nofollow link. If the link doesn't specify nofollow then it is a do follow.
I assume that you want websites that are do follow. Does this mean you can put a link on a site and it will go to your site? I know it's a dumb question, but help me learn exactly what it does. Thank you.
it is any link that is missing tag "rel=nofollow" or one that isn't blocked by meta tags or restricted by robots.txt. These type of links add to the total number of backlinks that google uses to rank the importance of your site ... much like the voting system in an election. Some search engines will follow and index the pages regardless of this tag being present.
No, you don't. There is really no such thing as "dofollow"; rather, it is just the absence of "nofollow". nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow Also see the following blog post from google's official blog: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2005/01/preventing-comment-spam.html
Do follow links help you rank higher in search engines, and in source code of any site click on find "nofollow" and if it's not there, then it is a dofollow.
You should only post your links on do follow because if it is no follow it won't benefit your pr. It might help bring traffic though
Even if the link has the rel="nofollow" attribute, search engines may still index your page. Or at the least, call attention to it. Nofollow is a misnomer. The microformat only states to not place any importance on the link. It says nothing about following it to the other side.
