Why use CGI if there is php?

    Can anyone tell me any reasonwhy to use CGI scripts when there is php?

    not perl.I just read an article about CGi directory on a server, and was wondering that php, java, asp all do the same thing as CGI, so why use it?I heard about cgi scripts..too

    I think why some business used CGI because they have an expert (skills programmer) person on coding the script on CGI PERL and better security, let see Rapidshare always changing their script to prevent cheating and improve security on their site. Security issues in perl scripts is very important to be safe on any hacking to the site now days.

    It really depends what you want to do. PHP is useful for different things same with Perl

    I have no knowledge about perl, it seem to be useful with databases, but I like php and it can be combined with other languages..

    CGI is not to hard to learn and also other programming language, lot of read with hard works. I know CGI before PHP come to this www, those days.

    well php has made life lot easier... its rather difficult to code and implement a logic in pearl / CGI , atleast i have felt so :D
