Yes but we know how many people do follow us. It is nothing hard to make a simple entry. I think it wa smost easiest job for me and I earned $100 for that.
Thought China pulled off what was technically one of the best run summer Olympics Ive seen. Not a lot of glitches. Admittedly they wasted a lot of goodwill they mighta had with what is turning out to be state sponsored cheating in a marquee event, but that one's in my blog so I wont repeat it here. That said, the IOC showed their traditional lack of spine and share the blame on that part. Good news is there were some incredible races (running, swimming, etc) that were won by what I strongly suspect (given the level of testing) were people doing it without performance enhancing drugs. Also the technology advances in not only the judging methods but also the visual effects available for the reporting was a huge addition from a spectating standpoint. Having the virtual lines showing where swimmers stood vs world record pace, the tracked vehicles following runners with cameras, the cable cameras following the rowing events... it was a pretty impressive spectacle overall.
Good stuff RJ! I missed the last few days being out of town, anything crazy go down? Did the USA guy win the decathlon?
The only reason I watched the Olympics was for the football and Usain Bolt. His running was absolutely amazing!
I would definitely say Usain Bolt and watching the swimming competitions was my fav. Both were very exciting. I also have to give it up to the Chinese for the opening and closing ceremonies. The next summer Olympics has gotta lot of work in order to beat those performances.
he coasted too! I bet he had another gear or two! sweet & sweet. I saw some highlights of his events...damn near cleared the discus field!
I missed the decathlon Tim... it musta conflicted with some watersport... and if I turned those off I'd have to hire a food tester to keep my wife from killing me. Yeah, Bolt was just scary-fast. If he wanted to compete against a class of athletes that *might* have a chance against him he might try the Kentucky Derby next (and I'd bet money on him there too). He's that good. My favorite competitor this year was Dara Torres. Aside from the sheer wonder of winning an Olympic medal in swimming at age 41 (and looking pretty hot in the process, but I wander off-topic)... she stopped the start of a race to get the judges to let a competitor change suits when she saw that one ran into a problem with a rip in the attire. She's a class act. I won't mention the perky female gymnasts in the tight suits (even the ones that ARE of age)... possibly for matters of good taste, or maybe just because the temporary restraining order hasn't run its course yet. Truth be told any guy that says he can watch womens gymnastics without a single improper thought is either lying or just has the same thoughts while watching the Mens beach volleyball.
now I know why I'm voting for you for el Presidente, too damn funny DT was pretty amazing and only a fingertip from gold too! there were several other great story lines like the 33 yr old German woman who vaulted (and got a medal)!
I happened to catch both Shawn Johnson on David Letterman, and then Dara Torres on Jay Leno. Both were pretty good interviews. I didn't expect Shawn to be as funny as she was, and I see her coming back for the 2012 games. Also Dara didn't really shut down the possibility of a 2012 Olympic run when asked . Wouldn't that be something to watch!?
I think SJ is a typical 16 year old in a lot of ways which is great. Hate to see them live & die by what they do competitively.
