Admittedly I haven't had much time to work on SEO for one of my websites at http://www.personal-injury-attorney-information.com/. It has been online for nearly 6 months and only a few pages are in the index in Google and Yahoo and none in MSN. Obviously, I don't have a PR yet and I am having trouble getting backlinks. Does anybody know some law directories that don't charge? I checked a few and each one wants about $45 to be listed. Link exchanges are far and few between because...well, I am not in the index. Article marketing and blogging is something I cannot do because I am not an expert in the legal field. So where can I get backlinks?
You can see many free directories with PR from our directories forum. sitemap will help you in getting all pages indexed.
Another thing you might check is whether you have a Google compliant sitemap, and make sure you've submitted your sitemap to the major SEs, especially MSN since you're not even showing up there. This link is a great place to start for directories: Strongest Links. Submitting to directories can be time consuming and since you're short on time, private message me or contact me through my web design site if you'd like to hire me to help. I can also help with your sitemap and other aspects of SEO.
Once, create a xml sitemap and submit it in Google webmaster tools, ur all pages will index. And also, build good inner linking process in the site.
Yes, I already have a sitemaps file and submitted it to both Google and Yahoo already. It is also set up in my robots.txt file so the other search engines should pick it up. http://www.personal-injury-attorney-information.com/sitemaps.aspx Back when I put this site online, I was under the impression that MSN doesn't have a way to submit the sitemaps file. Could you tell me how? I was reading on this post that I could also create an RSS file and submit it to RSS directories: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=439991. Based on my website's structure, creating an RSS file is pretty simple and I can probably have it done in a couple of hours. But before I do, I would like to know how much potential this would have...any thoughts?
Well, your site is being indexed by Google and it has ~16 pages done. Do you have a Google Webmaster Tools account set up yet? If you did, you could submit an XML Sitemap to speed up everything. Also, keep track of the DP discussions of "The number of Hyphens" in a domain name. You may have to many (3). This may hurt you. So far the max is 2 and recommendation is 1.
There are a variety of software packages designed to help you optimise your site and help you build page rank aswell as get indexed by search engines. One that we use is Web Ceo which we find very useful.
Right, but the number of pages on the website is close to 100. I have several other websites about the same size that are indexed to around 80-90% of the pages in the same time frame. I have a Google Webmaster Tools account and submitted the sitemaps file the day my website launched in February. According to the webmaster tools 75 of the 86 pages in the sitemaps file have been "indexed" even though only about 14 appear in the SERPs. Strange, I didn't think this was a factor. I have 2 other websites that have 3 hyphens in the name and they were both indexed by about 80% and had a PR in about 3 months. http://www.articles-about-exterior-shutters.info/ http://www.articles-on-exterior-shutters.com/
I said MSN, but it's called Live Search. Here's how to submit your sitemap. http://webmaster.live.com/ping.aspx?siteMap=YourSitemapURL Code (markup): Replace YourSitemapURL with your full sitemap URL. For example: Sitemap URL: http://www.magicinthedesert.com/sitemap Code (markup): Full URL: http://webmaster.live.com/ping.aspx?siteMap=http://www.magicinthedesert.com/sitemap Code (markup): Copy and paste your full URL into the address bar of your browser and hit Enter. The following message should appear in your browser: "Thanks for submitting your sitemap."
