I just saw in a thread here that Sending traffic on a hoplink directly can be a problem during PPC. Can somebody explain this in more details since I am about to start PPC Advertising. Thanks in advance!
First off you will most likely be competing against someone else direct linking using the same display url. So your ad may not rank high enough to even show on some of your keywords. Second, google hates direct linking with clickbank hop destination urls. Every direct link ppc campaign ive tried my quality score was complete shit and the campaign ended up getting slapped a few days later. This was just my experience but I know there are quite a few people out there having success with direct linking.
If you do direct linking your display url has to be the merchant's website url. So if someone else is also direct linking, Google won't display 2 ads with the same display url. That means only one of you will show up. The person with higher quality score wins. Also you get low quality score, when direct linking, because the keywords you are targeting are not always included on the sales page. You should better create your own landing pages, where you can do whatever you want, i.e. optimize it for keywords, set up tracking, pre-sell the product, etc.
relevancy is a big part of it but the thing I hate the most is really being able to see what the traffic does once it reaches your website. I think landing pages are essential.
Okay but right NOW I have domains related to my niche. If I redirect them to the hop-link and use the domains while PPC, then there will be no problem, right?
The display url must match the destination page url - therefore you cant use a domain and just redirect to your hoplink since you will be doing the same exact thing. Take it this way, when someone click your advert, whats the address being displayed on your landing page? - That same address must be used in your advert display Url. - If you are using a hoplink you can only use the merchant page since the hoplink redirect to that.
Better off linking to a landing page with a 1 link call to action link. Otherwise you'll never get low CPC's.
But I still do not understand. I am not talking about putting the hoplink during PPC. I mean MY DOMAIN (redirects to) Hoplink (redirects to) Publisher Landing Page. So I put my domain during PPC and when clicked upon, goes to the publisher landing page. If not, how can google know the destination URL and give me problems during PPC. Shouldn't Google consider this as a Unique URL? Thanks in advance
You don't get it. The DISPLAY URL has to match THE FINAL DESTINATION URL. If you put your domain in the campaign as a destination url, it redirects to your hoplink right? When your hoplink goes to the merchant's page, his website becomes different from your display url, doesn't? Let me give you an example. Your AD: Title: Your Title here Description: Text Text Text Description: Text Text Text Display URL: www.example.com Destination URL: www.example.com (which redirects to your hoplink) So look, if someone clicks on your ad, your domain will start redirecting to merchant's page, which let's assume is, www.abc123.com, and that will be THE FINAL DESTINATION URL. Can you see the difference? Your display url is: www.example.com, but the destination url is www.abc123.com Do you get it now? Just create some simple landing pages.
But how does google know about the destination page? Do they manually review all ads and don't allow ads which redirect to different pages? I mean how can this matter. Does their BOT crawl to all URLS to see this. Thanks in advance!
They most likely have a bot too but they check it manually as well. One thing is for sure - if they are different they will stop your add no matter what
