SEO Question

I currently have a website designed in homestead, that is about a year and a half in age. I (actually my wife) is giving it a "makeover" (exact same content) in Joomla to make life easier for us. For making changes etc.

We had someone do our SEO when we first launched the website and it is currently getting good traffic as far as the niche that we are in. With that said, we are wanting to increase our traffic on major keywords BUT do NOT want to jeopardize the traffic that we are currently getting as this is how we pay the bills.

So my question is if we change meta tags, keywords, meta description etc is there a chance that we could lose our SERP's that we currently have.

You may lose some traffic for a while, but if you stick with your niche - everything will be fine very soon.

 

For few weeks you might lose traffic (just like what hasan_889 said), in, order to recuperate from the lose traffic, you might try link building the new keywrods posted in your meta tags...

 

If i say about design means you just change design and having same content and same seo work then sure you wud get drop ranking and traffic for your site for some time but in that time period you can't take rest, you have to give ur best to retain ur traffic and SERP's................

But if you change site design, meta tags, keywords,meta description and other things then your current keywords ranking and traffic for those keyowrds completely lost after some time as google index ur site. When you go through with new site design, meta tags, keywords,meta description and other things then you have to give hard work to get popular, SERP's and traffic for new keywords to retaining your backlinks strength.

And traffic and SERP's wud depend how competitve keywords u r taking in your title tag and how gud on page and off page tactics you r applying........

But all these thing wud take time and u have to compromise with ur traffic and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.........................

 

Changing Meta Descriptions and Meta Keywords will not have an effect on your rankings but changing the titles will have an effect. Look at your current titles and search to see how you are showing up for any search terms in the titles. If you are showing up well then I suggest you leave the titles how they are and consider adding new pages of content to target extra search terms with.

 

it will affected the old keywords' SERPS. But if your new keywords can bring more traffic, that should be fine.

 

If you change title tag and description tag it will change ranking in serp but any changes are made for better result so after few days if you are getting more traffic for new keywords this will be good for you.

 

If you are doing some changes in the meta tags then it will be possible that you may have low traffic but if you start off page then regain your position.

 

I have heard SE like changes, so sometimes changes are useful things and very important can to determine them
