Just a quick note. This 2008 olympic was one of the best I have ever watched... but what puts it up at the top is 'Whole Lotta Love' to finish the ceremony. How did other's find this 2008 olympic? As well, this is directed toward the DP UKers out there... what you think of the games coming to london in 2012? Good, bad, who cares?
I thoroughly enjoy the Olympics every year Now to get my life back after spending so many hours watching TV over the last 16 days.
It was awesome... I can't wait until the 2012 Olympics in London. I've got to give credit where credit's due: The Chinese athletes were very good and great job on all those gold medals - more than any other country!
To be honest i'm just waiting for Boris to screw up the olympics in london but the Beijing olympics were pretty amazing although I didn't watch all that much of it.
Thanks god it;s ended. What a pile of shit the Olympics is. Now let's back onto real issues like Tibet. KP
Well I think this is one of the best Olympics I ever seen and it give something to cheers up towards to Olympics. Lot's new things happened and new Records made in this Olympics.
I have to tell you, the China games were good. But during the closing ceremonies I got to see what the future holds with the London bus and all those crazy dancers. Honestly, it was a huge let down. I mean no one expects London to be able to top China, but the contrast was just too great. To have just witnessed artistic greatness in imagination and execution, and then in the next minute to be assailed by crazy dancers, a transforming bus, a singer and guitar player on jack stands and a weak a$$ed football kick by a footballer!! This does not bode well.
The closing ceremony was spectacular. China did a great job of hosting the games and their closing ceremonies were beautiful. That structure in the center of the stadium where the people climbed up and down it was amazing to watch. By contrast the London preview show was kind of silly...people waving umbrellas and a double decker bus just don't look as inspiring as flying people.
Beijing Olympic 2008 was awesome!!! The opening was grant and remarkable. The sport i enjoy the most was Swimming - Michael Phelps is the man! 8 gold metals winner... He broke human's limitation. He said he will be joining 2012 Olympic to continue breaking records! Looking forward...
Does Beijing opening / closing ceremony represents *the real* chinese life? London is casual (as you see Boris), and the show represents the *business as you see* style. I'd think the 8 minute slot shows / represents Sports, Entertainment & multiculturalism.
Nice comments everyone. Here's my thoughts (sorry if I don't make them out to specific people's responses): 1. I did enjoy the Olympics, China did make an awesome effort. While YES... there are indeed EPIC GLOBAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS WORLD, it does not mean we should bring that to the forefront of the games! That is not the purpose of the games, rather it is to showcase human's evergrowing push for greatness. It amazes me how ever 4 years, someone is able to get a second fast, an inch further, and achieve the unthinkable. Again, let's not use the Olympics as a political/global problems & solution debate forum... rather let us use it as a worldly tool to bring all of us together for this short period of time to prove that indeed, we as a world can unite. 2. London has given me some doubts for 2012. Obviously, U.K. and U.S. will be able to understand the more edgy /modern look for these coming games. Just as China presented quite an awesome show for us from start to finish... I still think London will try and prove that they too, are a worldly power. I'm sure there will be controversy during these coming years... but again people, let's try to keep an open mind Thanks for all the comments! Great people here around DP
Im already looking forward to 2012!! The olympics has been a good watch this year, too many incredibly late nights here in the UK
No, the problems in Tibet are FAR more important the Olympic games and it's to showcase the human push for greatness? You live in a warped world. Greatness is letting a country breath. KP
