I experienced a great loss of traffic before three weeks and I can not return my old good positions. I'll explain and maybe you can help me: I have three websites for hotels, all of them are for hotels in different regions in my country. That means I don't have duplicate content in the results pages or in the hotel info pages. All my titles and meta-descriptions are unique. BUT: all three sites use the same template. Before the loss the traffic was: site1 - over 1100 visits/day (1.5 year old domain) -> now 150 visits/day site2 - over 400 visits/day (8 months) -> now 50 visits/day site3 - over 100 visits/day (2 months) After the loss I rank for all keywords not before position 40. All websites are indexed and the G. bot visits them regularly. What I changed? I removed all the irrelevant external links or nofollowed them. I also submitted a reconsideration request in the G. webmaster-tools two weeks ago, because I'm sure I don't violate the Google Webmaster Guidelines. I changed the template of site1 a week ago, because I thought the penalty concerns the similar templates. But after reindexing yesterday with the new template, site1 is still "penalized". What should I do next? Should I write another request and wait? pls help
Same is happened to my 3 sites. My one Site was Receiving around 400 visitors per day from Google. But Now Not a single visitor from Google.. The site is around 3 months Old...
A lot of people are reporting this. I was at 300 a day and then to 2 a day then it looks like it went up again. It's G playing around with the results. It is possible that you will gain traffic again or else that you might have been adversely affected by change in algos. Whatever the situation is. Don't give up. I wouldn't have changed anything in the templates if it was ranking high before with same template.
I think this is because of blogs . Blogs in same niche get updated daily and acquiring all good positions in google . We have to update websites on regular basis to remain on same positions .
I did, but after the "penalty" I removed all the links between these three sites. @cavepro: I didn't give up, it's just strange to me that I lost the rankings simultaneously for all of them @atulperx: my sites are not built as blogs, just as portals for hotels: homepage, results pages for the cities, hotel info pages...
Hi folks, keep patient, there is a strange update going on since about 6 weeks. The first time ever since 8 years my algo-change-proof optimization showed a loss in rankings, just for one client and two search terms. Can't see a difference in traffic but the fact "as it is" worries me a bit. My observations suggest not to panic and not to start changing "everything" or anything before the update is finished. (you might recover your rankings without doing anything)
If it not was an excessive cross linking, just some "normal" "link exchange" , I'd recommend to place those links again as fast as possible, this was not the reason for your lost positions in the SERPs!
