Bloody hell, how can anyone read that blog? The person can't even use proper spelling/grammar.

Anyway, it's not that hard a question to answer. You either work at it and become good or you won't get very far, no one is going to become good at anything overnight (which is what a lot of people think, it can't be that hard, but it is)

Although some people are naturally better (i.e. they have a more creative mind) you can easily learn how to make graphics that look professional and people like a lot, it's the people who are naturally better that make stunning things.

The most important tip: Learn from someone that can actually design. Clearly this person can't design, let alone speak English.

at graphic design schools too, there aren't many students who enjoy a lot writing css and markup.. :)

    ignoring the spelling mistakes/errors..

you're right, most people think they can become a designer overnight because of an article/e-book..

maybe people tend to graphic designing as it pays well? and doesn't takes up too much time either.. talking about people who naturally don't have interest in it.. just adopting it as a business.. Ive personally noticed some writers-turned-designers or writers + designers here on DP which were just professional writers earlier.. Well I think designing is an art - not a business..

    cheers

You were expecting me? Uh oh :p

I don't really think I'm in the posititon to be teacher people yet. In my opinion, a lot of web designing has to be learnt on your own, not all of it, but a good chunk of it. I think this particularly because there isn't many right or wrongs. I can teach where to place things on a layout, what fonts to use and avoid, etc. But I cannot teach creativity.

If I had to give advice to someone who wants to get into webdesign, I would tell them to look at well established designers. Look at what they do and learn from it.

Maybe they do. Graphic design does pay well if you are good and so it should, just like everything, if you are good at something you can charge more, right?

People can write and still be good designers too you know...

I'm in awe at some designers (such as Nik Ainley and Nick La). I doubt i'll ever be as good as them, but I can still try.
