See this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=950924 Domain was a valid pr2 when I sold it to them. Deal went smooth and both the buyer and myself were happy with the transaction. Now, today I get an email from paypal saying that they have opened a dispute and wanted their $20 back because it doesn't have PR Every one knows with certain changes, and the loss of backlinks, you will lose your pr. What do I do here?
hmm so in three weeks this site loses all its backlinks and the page rank checker that you used in the post to sell this site says suspicious PR, I have added this site to many others and it now has more links then when I bought it from you, anyway I have escalated this with paypal so we will see whats happends from now. As I have already told you if I get the refund I will send the site and script back to you.
This seems to have nothing to do with Payment Processing, you may want to ask the mods for a favor to move to say GC. But it seems a private transactions gone wrong, you should have settled it at your level, rather than escalate it with a post on a popular public forum.
I don't think you're doing a right thing here. You already get what you want at the time of you purchasing it. You should already know that PR can go up or down when PR update is coming no matter how good you building your links as Google is always changing their algorithm. And I think there is an error in that pagerank checker because even Digital Point domain also shown as suspicious PR. And if you find it suspicious, you should already know in the first place before buying the domain. And just like wisdomtool said, this is not a payment processing issue and OP shouldn't posting this thread here.
Because Paypal is poor Seriously speaking, Paypal doesn't want $20 back- the buyer wants his money back. Read what the OP wrote carefully.
She escalated it through paypal today. Looks like I'm getting screwed and I don't even have the $20 to cover it I've been scraping by for the last few months and this is going to hurt me with my other sites. Buyer was happy and knew when she purchased the site that it was indeed a valid PR2. If I was trying to hide anything why would I post the link to the site that shows it was valid. This is total bs and will not be forgotten. Sorry I posted it here I've NEVER had a problem with any transaction before on DP. This is the first. What don't you understand ma'am it was valid PR2. I posted the link showing it in the thread. Don't you think if it wasn't you or anther DP member would have spotted it. You're putting me in a bad spot over something I have nothing to do with. My for sale thread was not misleading in any way, and you even purchased it at a lower price than I was asking. I don't have the funds in paypal to pay you back, and also you've already gotten the backbone of the site, which is the script. You could have pm'd me about this on here or emailed me before making a dispute through paypal and we could have handled this like adults. You know for a fact it was indeed a VALID PR2 when you bought it. I really dn't know what else to say but you're doing shady business and I will make sure others know this in the future when I see you selling/buying something from other trustworthy members like myself. I am sorry you feel this is my fault but I have absolutely nothing to do with the loss of PR on whodatis.com
Was there any agreement between you that PR shall be maintaned at that level for some period after the deal? If you say that PR was valid, then you ust be able to show the backlinks. Albeit its possible the value of those backlinks has depreciated and this has reflected upon the domain you dealt with. So you could have a valid defence if you could get some analysis of the backlinks.
no there was no agreement. One cannot guarantee pagerank no matter how good you are. It doesn't take much to drop pr, and is a task for small sites to keep a decent pr. The deal was completely smooth and there were no wrong doings whatsoever, period. It's all in paypals hands no, let's just hope whoever covers the dispute knows about this sort of stuff. To all of those watching this thread, take note as this could happen to you next. Granted it 's only $20 but there is no valid reason why she is disputing this
excactly...the deal will stay as it is because paypal doesnt cover virtual items.. so the trade shall remain the same if u want it to or not --sean
Nightcoder is in the "WRONG" here. It is not Brotato's fault the site doesn't have the same PR ranking anymore.
Paypal's "no refund on virtual items" policy only applies if the buyer funded it from their PayPal account. If they used a credit card PayPal has to follow credit card merchant rules. Chargebacks are not automatic. Paypal will give you an opportunity to respond with your side and evidence. What is the listed reason for the refund?
After thinking about this issue I have choosen not to continue with this as it may go on for some time and I have more important things going on then to be chasing somebody for $20. I'm very sure you would of felt and delt with this the same way if you had bought this site from somebody else and had the same problem as I have, Good luck.
