A group that I'm a member of wants to start posting some podcast and I'd like to get your input on what affordable equipment we should start off with, and what do upgrade when we have more money?

Also what kind of software do you use or have you seen recommended?

I've been searching on google and see plenty of "podcast kits" and I have a good idea of what to use.

We want 2 mic's to start and a mixer, as well as software to run on 2 windows machines

Thanks, look froward to hearing what you use

    Hi,

A friend of mine uses this USB podcast kit and he thinks its great. It also comes with a number of podcasting software, Podifier, Juice, PodNova, Golden Ear.

I've heard of that, but I'm with the OP. I would like to know the best tools for creating podcasts.

I guess I could post some of the articles online I've found.. one sec

I see something at best buy today that looked like this, they didn't have a price on it, so I don't know how much it was.
this one has some nice mics listed and a good mixer

and a few more, but all in all, mostly the same
I guess not many DP'ers do podcast? it's a shame, they are a great way to market your brand.

We just started doing one. If you want to make something really professional, then you'll need a room to use. Make sure you buy 2 decent unidirectional mics and a mixer with enough inputs, incase you're going to expand.

Personally, we're going to be using Skype and recording the calls. To get perfect quality, you can record each side from the local pc, and send them all to one for editing. I've found that just recording them from one pc gives superb quality. All we're using is our normal headsets with mics. Make sure you have a test run or 2 before putting anything live.
