People that would buy this book are the same ones that watch a 30 minute infomercial on anti aging cream and buy it. Sucker born every minute.

..the only good ebook is a FREE eBook...
..So let me get this straight.. I decide to buy Joel's ebook, I choose not to read the fine-print/agreement, and that makes Joel a fraud? If this happened to me, I would feel like an idiot for not reading the agreement that I (probably) agreed too..
NOW - If it was nowhere in the agreement, or if there was no agreement, that would be different..

i remember reading another post like this regarding this subscription issue on DP. i think Joel offered a public apology or explanation on his site regarding this. is he still subscribing customers without their knowledge?

sometimes when you are paying for one thing which is the eBook and even if it is in the fineprint that says you are being subscribed to a monthly membership, unsuspecting customers cannot be held responsible for not reading the fineprint. they didnt pay for subscription but for an eBook. somehow making it legal with a fineprint that no one or lot of customers would not read or cannot find doesn't make it ethical business practice.

ask yourself a question. if it says clearly that you are paying for an eBook for $9.95 or however much it is and at the same time subscribing to a monthly membership for $29.95 /month, how many will buy or join? if it is not the same amount of customers buying the book and joining the subscription while making the subscription thing more visible, then putting it in the fineprint means clear attempt of decieving unsuspecting customers

dont feel like an idot for not reading the fineprint, hold your seller responsible for unethical business practice and for decieving you

Honestly, there are always going to be those who like to tear other people down for a number of reasons.

    Let's talk facts...

For the umpteenth time, there was nothing hidden in the offer. It was clear as day on the sales page AND the order form. There was NO hidden continuity program. We used english words to spell it out for everyone.

Furthermore, if anyone failed to read the pages and received a copy of my report, they were NOT billed. It was free, sent on my dime.

There was a note stuck to the front explaining exactly what it was with a direct line to our phone support AND a url to our help desk explaining how to easily cancel.

Finally, anyone who DID get billed but did not want to was refunded fully.

We handled everything professionally and with integrity.

And for the record, those who are subscribing to my Top 1% Report are seeing great value! You can get a one penny trial at http://www.TopOnePercentReport.com

*shrugs shoulders* All I know is that in addition to him knowing just the basics of adsense, he claims to be such a marketer, yet there are noobs who can get more traffic than him. He has, um, "interviewed" other such "gurus," yet they don't have much traffic either.

That's enough for me not to listen to him.

    He's a dime a dozen.

I don't know about this clown being a thief, though.

Whether you listen to me or anyone else is your choice.

    But why the bitterness, copper?

Usually I don't reply to stuff like this, but I guess I'm bored this morning.

If you are going to characterize me, please at least do it right.

How many people do you know that have been at this since 1995?

How many people do you know that sold a site to Yahoo?

How many people do you know that wrote a NY Times best-seller (and just have another book hit to Amazon and BN best-seller list?)

How many people do you know that produced a full-fledged internet marketing reality show?

And as for traffic, how many do you know that get 30,000 visits/day without any paid traffic or effort?

I'm not bragging. My point is that I am an entrepreneur and I take risks.

Apart from criticizing people on these forums, what have you done?

I encourage you to spend more time working on your business and reaching your goals than blindly attacking people. It will benefit you, and those you serve, more.

"Bitterness"? lol remember he was using that word in that other thread? heh.

No, you're just caught in, yet another uncomfortable situation.

    Too bad.

None. However, I have seen plenty of liars and frauds who have been at it since 1995.

    Really? Huh.

    You are? Really? Huh.

    "Best seller list"???

    Okay, if you say so.

And, uh, we have all seen books that are just downright awful, and yes, frauds, and who also sell the same old shit and they also sell quite a few books. I know of several that are in the sales rank of around #1,000. ... Yeah, and???

    "Best seller list." hehe

Wow, you put together videos, and promoted them, got a list going. I'm impressed. Can I have your autograph?

    What's the url?

    Criticized frauds like you.

    Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the link, adsense man. That was sweet. :)

If it was in the fine print, then legally he has no problem. I liken this to all the people complaining about being banned because they clicked their own ads repeatedly and then won't accept the blame for not actually reading things like the TOS and the Adsense Program Policies where it is quite clearly stated.

In other words... you've done nothing. I can probably help you, but the first step is recognizing you need help.

Well back to work on the next big thing!

One principle of success is to not allow negative people into your life. While I am all for helping people who are sincere, there's no room for miserable people who live to be miserable and spread their misery. It's unfortunate, but their misery is their problem.

Thankfully Vbulletin has an "ignore" feature and you can instantly turn off those people. Just discovered that you can click on someone's name and there is a "ignore username" link. I am putting it to good use. :)
