Is it worth buying it at Rs31,000 ($800)? I thinks it's really bad that they increased the price like this.

I totally agree with u dude...
First of all, it is heavily overpriced!!
secondly, 3g technology is not supported in India..and my guess is tht it wud take atleast a year fr tht 2 come..
    moreover,the phone hasn't got Bluetooth !!

So, If u r nt a apple geek..I wud say This offer is nt worth!!

Prices is too much high comparing USA . For Data sharing we have to pay more than 2k per month and one of my friend told me that if battery is damaged than buy new iphone because we cant change battery .

By deliberately overpricing the gadget, they don't want it to reach the masses and only hope the price would come down in the coming days (months / years?? )

Well iPhone will not be hit as other phones since it has less working features in India and price is higher then other country. We would see soon a price slash from Airtel and Vodafone.

I expect that slash to come very soon. More than 80% of the population waiting for the phone were hit hard by the price

hey man dont really go for it. Apple is planning to launch legal versions of unlocked iphones in US from sept 5 with a price range of 600$ - 700$.

If you buy in INDIA they will come down very soon and this bloody companies they wont give a rebate like apple did in US.

India supporting 3G is not distant dream as per the network operators, about the other technical things like bluetooth, video recording and stuff, there are numerous reports which says apple is going to release the some firmware update to fix all that. And yes prices are also expected to come down, So my advice just wait and watch.

vodafone has lowered the price. The new price for the iPhone 3G 8GB is 29,000 Indian rupee and 34,000 Indian rupee for 16GB model .
As of current the other local carrier, Bharti Airtel has not yet announced any price cut.

Sorry, I dont have any news sorce..but its true.

But still the price is too much.
