Well they certainly spend tons of money and efforts trying to make it a success. Security was extreme and there is only one fatality (being stabbed to death). Overall I think it is a great success. I guess for China, the hosting of the Summer Olympics is one way to tell the world that they had reach the milestone, capable of being shoulder to shoulder with the other great nations in the league of nations. It is quite an achievement and I am sure it will bring new founded confidence to our Chinese comrades.

Time for China to stand up and take its place among the great nations. It is nearly a century late. The Opium Wars and the humiliation of "No Dogs or Chinese" allowed will be part of history now.

    Congrats to China, Well Done!

Breathtaking closing ceremony. Love the perfection (except some bits of music etc) from start to finish. Well done china!

Now the 2012 party starts

Tough job for London to follow, given that it has only half the budget that Beijing had.

I am too busy to even think about Olympics.
Let me work hard for now so I can be rich and watch the next Olympic from the very front seat! :)

No way to match with the stellar shows of beijing olympics. Being a democratic country with extreme media criticism, tougher job for the organisers of London 2012.

Wow, closing was really spectacular. These Olympics have been huge, maybe best by now. Everything was fine except for the terrible incident with American who was stabbed.
