How come I see tons of wacky domains registered and I'm the one that is skeptical about the purchase of even tvshow.me and web-master.me ?
It depends what you mean by 'wacky'! There seem to be two schools of .me domainers - one that is SEO-oriented and one that is branding-oriented. In the short-term, picking up a keyword domain on the .me extension might be great for exploiting search engine traffic. But if you want to setup a proper business, branding is absolutely vital - so you need a brandable name. Things like "fishingrods.me" and "webhosting.me" just don't make sense - they are almost unbrandable. However, the kind of domains being picked up by the branding-oriented among us, e.g. "entertain.me" and "insure.me" have enormous branding potential and a large chunk of the branding work is already done for you! At the end of the day we are all taking a gamble and we all think and/or hope that the domains we've registered will pay off, but only time will tell...

Besides godaddy promoing the .me and helping get the word out to the public will take some time. Im actually talking to my rep there about what there marketing plans are to make .me more of a recognized TLD.. but aside from them its on us.. I see a huge community of .me domainers so I see it as our responsibility to promote the .me and get the word out. We are going to work on some viral marketing concepts that are going to be shown on youtube and dumped on thousands of blogs.. some of our ideas are off the wall but its the kind of stuff that will get passed across the office.. maybe not to our target market but it is going to open peoples eyes to the fact that .me exists. We went for very keyword targeted/ typein domains so it is defiantly beneficial for us to have .me become a familiar TLD to the general public... In my eyes once .me is a known extension i would think a large % of men will just type in Pussy.me. I look forward to hearing about different marketing concepts that all the different .me owners are executing over the next year. Good luck everyone!

How will I brand or seo h-u-g.me? Well it's not exactly seo friendly because of the hyphens! As for branding, it wouldn't be too hard visually as people would see and remember the hyphens and it's just a single word, so it's great in that respect. But aurally you would struggle because of the hyphens. Still a very decent domain though. Incidentally, I thought I might as well join in the hypenated shenanigans - just regged p-o-r-n.me

I was on holiday in Montenegro when all this happened and I have returned amazed that the tiny country where I went hiking could cause such a furore, ha ha. Bet 99% of you don't even know where it is! Doesn't matter, I suppose, but I just wonder if anyone took into consideration the fact that .ME is a COUNTRY TLD, not a new TLD like .com. What's the difference? Well, Montenegro is newly-independent state and you know... countries come and go. Though if Montenegro ever became part of Albania or something (JOKE, for any Montenegrins reading!) I suppose .ME would be kept around, perhaps for as long as 50 years, like other discontinued country TLDs... Seems to me though that a miniscule proportion of these registrations will ever see a return of any kind, but I suppose that's the risk you take. When Serbia got a new TLD (.rs), I thought there might be some potential there in vanity domain names - went for lawye.rs, compute.rs, shoppe.rs, guess what - DENIED. Looking back though I can't really see what I would have done with them, any more than with DNA.ME, or whatever. But maybe that's just my lack of imagination.
