Do people actually use the reputation function on DP? Ive only been here less than a week but it seems that most people have very little reputation on their profiles? I was just wondering if its something that is actually used to its proper potential on this site?
So, many new members register here everyday that you might not have seen the profiles of some old members. Otherwise, there are a lot of members with full 11 blobs of reputation. See the first reply to your post.
I didn't think of that, yes there are a lot of newbies like myself joining and I guess its just there profiles that I have seen. Thanks for replying
i had been here for last one month and already got one rep, guess ppl do use it if they feel you are worth it, i have seen many good members with many green burbs....
I do use reputation to some posts i like. also got some red on my comments sometime as well. do post a nice and useful post, you will have lots of green. (dont even think about asking for it, because you will get reds instead)
Click on the icon that looks like a scale on the right side, the one in the middle. You can leave rep there. Negative rep takes away -1 point from your score, adding rep doesn't remove any.
Actually it depends on what your current rep is that determines how much of an impact you have. With a single green box you only do -1, but when you get more boxes you have a much bigger impact. I've gotten reps from people that were worth 5 and 10 points each sometimes.
I think many members use the reputation but in most cases a person has to earn it before someone gives it to them.
Usually if I come across some good suggestions and informative post, I don't mind giving green. It helps to keep the forum alive
