Hallo, friends. Im surprised about hostgator big bandwith and space for a quite cheap price. Would like to ask you to help find out. Is it fast enough as a paid host? (in general - for an arcade site) or any other good ones around? Thank you
I am using this service for 2 months now (unlimited domains, $10 a month) and it works pretty good, didn't notice any problems so far. Many people here on DP also report that it's probably the best hosting.
Thank you very much, Blichev, for your responce! I pay to my host provider 12$ monthly for 5gb space and 90 gb bandwith. I see Hostgator offers - 350gb space and 3,000gb bandwith monthly for only 5$. Hard even to try to compare Definately i need to think what i do
Hey check it again - it's $5 only if you pay for 3 years! It's actually $7/month if you pay for one year and $9 if you pay monthly.
ah, i see now thanks for corrections. Looks the second (doubled) plan is only 1$ more expensive than cheapest one, if pay monthly (9.95$). Still thats crazy cheap for such a huge space and bandwith in my opinion. btw: Happy Birthday, Blichev
Most web hosting provider oversell, because the majority of their customers don't use all the resources that they get. That's why you will see lots of companies providing unlimited storage and bandwidth. just think about that 5GB of storage would allow you to host 25,000 pages of 200KB each. And 90GB of bandwidth equal to transfering 450,000 pages. I don't think most people have that many pages or get that much traffic. In the event that you want to buy web hosting from Hostgator, there are various discounts that you can use to save money. I have some in my website.
I use hostgator for a site of mine and I think they are really good. I had a coupon that gave 20% off as well.
I have been using Hostgator since December last year. I'm pretty impress with their shared hosting. No downtime so far. If you use a discount coupon, you need to pay only 1 cent for the first month. That way, you can test how their hosting performance.
My experiences with HostGator have been generally positive -- their support is top-notch, the ftp and site load very quickly, etc. I'd recommend it if that's the kind of price range you're willing to pay. I would look for coupons online before purchasing hosting, you'll save quite a bit of money. -rcad
I switched from Namecheap to Hostgator 10 days ago ($10 monthly plan).. and I din't have any problems sofar... Their Online Support is very good.
Im with hostgator.. the only complaint with them from me is the iNode issue.. they only allow 50,000 files on the $10 account.. I was running into problems after 4 months.. granted I have about 10 different sites.. (all in various stages of completion naturally) But I was taking advantage of the HUGE bandwidth, space and unlimited domains... doesnt matter if the file is 1kb or 1gb.. you only get 50,000 of them.. and a clean install of phpBB has a little more than 6,000 files.. ads up quick.. but all in all.. I am very happy with them..
how abt 404 error files in that site ? i am seeing lot of 404 code will lead to their crappy search pages is .htaccess restricted there
They have a default 404 "File not Found" page, which you can customize. And you are free to modify your .htaccess file.
I have one site hosted with them and they are good for me. Let me say they are one of the top 5 of hostings I had.
Been using Hostgator for over 2 years now after bouncing around a bit. They've easily been the best I've dealt with all the way around. On the one or two time I've had to deal with their support they were fantastic.
