Hi, I've been using SmartFTP for awhile but it says now I have to pay for it. Unfortunatly the damn thing had about 50 accounts logged in it with my passwords and won't let me start the program to get them. So Now I'm using FileZilla and I have to change the passwords now manually and start over again. The problem I have is it hides the passwords with asterisks which I think it just stupid anyways how do disable that it shows the passwords in plain text. This is invaluable time saver as I usually just start the FTP program and get the passwords from it by copy and paste...this asterick thing is really a pain my neck at the moment.
They are applications that will change the **** to text using Windows Hooks. Do you want to get the passwords one time, or have it in plain text all the time? I'm not sure if the latter is possible. Jay
SmartFTP had a option to have the passwords in plaintext all the time. FileZilla I cannot find no option however thats why I'm asking here. So there are 3rd party programs that will unhide passwords?
I've never used FileZilla, sorry Yes, a lot of applications such as: http://www.rekenwonder.com/revealer.htm This Google Search brings a lot of them up. Jay
Personally, I use always SSH (nano/vim). If I need FTP, I use "FTP Surfer", freeware and does the job. Jay
All right thanks. But you must be using Linux then. As I'm using windows I cannot upload files threw putty to server. But I can access the /home directory and browse threw all the accounts. edit; Does anyone know if you view the Root folder /home with FTP? That way I would not need to keep as many account in the ftp.
Linux rules Just so you know, SSH supports SCP/SFTP (secure FTP), use WinSCP for that. You can browse your root /home and use it just like FTP Jay
