Looking for my epiphany

I'm not really sure how to ask this or really what to ask, but I feel like I'm just not getting something. For those who make pretty serious income from affiliate marketing (or any steady income really), is it just a combination of things like PPC, landing pages, full sites, blogs etc.? Or is it a more structured system? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, will I do better making a bunch of full sites with updated content, hopefully catching natural seo traffic and maybe combining with PPC or is it best to just create tons of simple review style landing pages until something sticks? All of the above? Should I target high priced/commission items or just whatever's popular regardless of price? I think I'm definitely experiencing analysis paralysis...help:confused:

Websites are relitivly cheap (or free) to setup so why not try them all, its fine for people to say "do JUST this" but there are so many factors to take into consideration its best to find your own way with trail and error.

I feel that popular items are a bad choice, popular items always have lots of competition which can be a killer for a starting site, but if you have a niche then its a different story.

You might want to check out MoreNiche (link in sig :)) they have some nice niche products and LOADS of resources to help you such as product images, pdf's, website templates, friendly forum with loads of help all free :) (the $45 sign up bonus isn't bad either :D )
