Okay zango, everyone says they are so bad, now this is my opinion. Zango pays me around $60-$100 per day, SO i was happy until i got here and saw everyone saying how bad it is, how they mess up computers. SO i said how could this be. I installed zango on my own computer. and when i searc h the net i get a pop up, it clearly says this ad is from zango that you downloaded from this site, not only that I UNINSTALLED IT with no problem, gave myself a virus scan after and nothing came up. So then i did some more research and found out that Zango use to be harmful for computers, LIKE every other pay per install programs, but now after lawsuits they are what they are today. In my opinion they are the best affiliate company on the net. I for one am tired of people saying so much bad stuff about them when it is clear they have never installed their programs. anyways that my thought, what do you think about zango.....and please don't just say they suck, without explaining. AND I KNOW THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PAGES ON INTERNET THAT SAY ZANGO IS BAD, But im going to have to believe my own experience then what internet pages say....

It looks like many webmasters don't know what exactly Zango does and how it affects everybody's sales, including THEIR own.

To put it in simple terms, Zango hijacks people’s computers. What it means is that if surfers who have their computers infected with Zango come to any website, including websites of people who think Zango is the greatest thing since peanut butter because it makes them money, they may click on banners on your website, which you should be paid for, but what happens, is that Zango infected computer will overlay your website with new screen which will hijack your banners and if the surfer makes a sale, the affiliate payment will go to Zango and not the webmaster. A webmaster will only see a click, but the sale will be credited to Zango.

The more webmasters promote Zango, the more computers get infected and the less money webmasters make, including webmasters who think Zango is great for them.

    This is what exactly happens:

Zango pays by the install. They install "adware" on to surfer’s computers in exchange for some free games and porn. After they’ve installed Zango adware, the program will run in the background 24/7 constantly monitoring what sites the surfer visits and if they visit a site that contains a sponsor that Zango has bidders on, the adware will pop up a new window over your website, masking the ad to that sponsor with new link. So if your traffic generates a legitimate sign up for which you should receive money, you will receive nothing. You will have only used your own bandwidth and advertising money to attract that surfer.

Imagine you pay for advertising. For demonstration purposes, let’s say you bid $.50 on a popular keyword via AdWords. A surfer who installed Zango adware conducts a seach for that popular term and your website pops up in results. Surfer clicks on the ad, for which you are charged $.50, comes to your website, surfs around, you pay for that bandwidth and since you have worked real hard to build your website real well, you sold the surfer and he’s ready to make a final step – to pull up his credit card and make a purchase. He clicks on the sign up button, believing the page he’s being sent to is the page linked form your page, but if the banner was to a website of one of Zango’s advertisers, you get zero credit out of otherwise legitimate sale, because Zango hijacked that surfer’s computer. The surfer believed he clicked YOUR link, he believed he was going to a page YOU were sending him to. But instead they were going to a page by a sponsor who is bidding on YOUR traffic via Zango.

Bottom line, if a surfer with Zango adware on his computer comes to your site and clicks on a link that Zango has bidders for, you have got no chance to have this sale credited to you. Regardless of whether it’s an adult or a mainstream site. If Zango has bidders for that site, you won’t get your money. Zango will. They will use your traffic you work hard for and steal their sign ups form you.

Zango has been fined for downloads with out the surfer's consent by the FTC for 3 million dollars but yet they are still allowed to operate. However, the suit was dropped because what they are doing is technically not illegal mainly because the there isn’t the law for this type of technology crime yet.

The best way for webmasters to verify how Zango works, is to get an old PC, FDisc and format the hard drive, install operating system and then install Zango. Then go visit one of YOUR sites and watch what happens. You will not promote Zango ever again. You will see all your hard work getting stolen. When you see it first hand, that will be it for you and Zango. You may think they are making you money, but think of the money you could have made, but it all went to Zango.

Easily uninstalled if you are knowledgeable about computers. Many people have no idea where they acquired the adware and how to get rid of it. They spend a pile of time trying to deal with it and it gets them really stressed out.

Zango is part of what gives internet marketers such a crappy reputation.

Right...which is why Zango pays you for INSTALLS

Any company that pays you to install crap on someone else's computer isn't to be trusted.

Does Zango tell people these instructions? Obviously not. I bet at least 40% of people who get that crap installed on their system don't know how to get rid of it.

By the way, this thread is about as silly as Zango's business model. "Everyone Post Opinions" basically means "I really like Zango, so I'm going to post my opinion and argue with everyone who dislikes Zango".

Stop trying to justify this sleaze. Zango is a company whose history (and business model) is built around infecting peoples' computers with crap. That's how they make money and that's how their affiliates make money.

Obviously many of you on this forum are ok with that because you make enough money with Zango to buy a pack of cigarettes everyday. Luckily, many webmasters are far more ethical than you.

It looks like you don't mind ripping people off into buying ringtones but luckily, many webmasters are far more ethical than you.

    Let's see:

    - Ringtones: selling a product to someone who pays for it
    - Zango: installing adware onto an unsuspecting user's computer

    hmm...
