Hello, I paid for a guy who submited my site a few months ago, around $10 for 500 directories. After the submission is completed for about 3 weeks, my site gets good indexed on google, but now it does not show at all, even worse than before submission. Does any one know why? do we have to keep submitting to directories? every month or so? Thanks, Jenny.
There are so many variables involved with Google, you can just blame it on the web directory submission. It can be anything under the Sun.
How bad can submitting a simple link to a web directory do? Cheap or expensive it is still the usual submission. The professional ones may vary the description and anchor text as well as ensure the correct categories. But I think the differences ends here.
There are very few directories today that are worth submitting a site to. I did it for years. By being an active member in DP, I get better results, learn more, and get to know some great people. Forget the submissions. Create content, participate in DP, and start building quality links. And the next time you want to spend $10, buy an SEOer a drink.
Directory submission is useful as it increases backlinks...It depends on whether you had got manual or automatic submission...Automatic submission can throw your site in spam list by directory owners which might be the case in your scenario
normally, if you want to see the effect of directory submissions you have to wait several month up to one year. that was my experience.
Just about few weeks ago, I read a topic about google now downgrading the PR of directory specific pages. I mean the main page still shows a certain ranking but the inner pages no longer have it. It seems like they don't place much importance on directories anymore.
That's too cheap and I don't think that guy really submitted your site to 500 directories... you paid for 20 submissions only..
most probably it's not a manual submission. nobody would do it for that cheap. directory submission is only good for PR and nothing more.
you got served. lol The guy submitted to his networked directories which has very little value, you need to have the full SEO package to benefit to a higher SERP
IMO back links help you to get PR for your site. If you want only PR than surely go crazy for directory submission and etc... But if you are interested in SERP and traffic for your site than do quality link building and do good social networking. Social networking helps you to get good quality back links and as well as increase traffic to your site also. It is true that today very less directories are there which has very good quality and PR and also giving free back link to your site. Mostly good directories provide paid links rather with nofollow attribute. So, do not run after only directory submission do some other things for getting well position in SERPs.
