Looks pretty sweet, give us more updates. (btw... if you want even more backlinks & traffic, you might want to check out this dp thread)
Wow this is the first time I ever read a whole thread. It's like a story that kept me hanging. I will come back here as you update.
This is a great experiment, i too have started a semi-niche blog and it is still in its infancy... I wish you all the best and i will keep checking back at this thread to see how you are getting on! Keep posting and writing articles!
Sorry guys for the lack of updates. I'll give you one within the next couple of hours (although it won't be very positive). I'm not banned or anything. This blog is an experiment. I still have a whole plateful of online activities going on that account for my main source of income (and that has taken up most of my time). But I will give you a complete update shortly (within a couple of hours). Best wishes, Joe P.S. If anyone can give me suggestions/pointers for doing better with this blog, I'm all ears.
Ahhh...the update. Here it is: Here are my results for the blog: Day 8 Unique Visitors Total: 28 Unique Visitors Per Day: 3.5 Income Earned Total: $0.00 Income Earned Per Day: $0.00 Actions Taken: Total Posts In My Blog: 2 Articles Written and Submitted To EZA: 2 Articles That Are Live: 2 Total Article Views: 56 Total Article Clicks: 7 Forums I Have Posted In: 2 Blogs I Have Posted In: 5 Why Haven't I Posted Any Updates In A While? Mostly discouragement and the fact that I do have income streams that are paying me, and so those activities take priority to this blog experiment. What do I think went wrong? Well, I really think that the stats that I used to determine whether the keywords would be successful were false. Not just a little either. They are GROSSLY wrong. And here's how I know: My main keyword phrase has over 1440 Google searches per day (or so I thought going off the keyword research tool I am using). The competition was under 10. Actually, I re-looked at this, and discovered that Google had omitted some duplicate results. When you add in the duplicates, the competing webpages was still right around 100. Still low enough to easily dominate. And I did, for a while. I wrote my first article on that keyword and submitted it to EZA. At its peak, that article was ranked #4 on Google. It should have gotten a larger portion of that supposed 1440+ daily searches. But it didn't. Not even close. In the six days that this particular articles has been live, it has gotten a total of 42 pageviews. Not clicks. Just pageviews. How is that even possible? Because the numbers I used to base everything around were very, very wrong. So what have I learned? I learned that you need to make sure that your numbers are accurate. Or at least as accurate as can be. Just so everyone knows, that keyword research tool I used to get my numbers is a free one that can be found here: http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/index.php When I finally decide to shell out some dough for a keyword research tool, I want to get Wordtracker. I have just heard to many good things about. Because the SEOBook keyword research tool gets its number from Wordtracker, I thought it would be the next best thing. In the past, it always proved accurate. Not precise of course. But good enough to get a gauge of the demand a keyword phrase had. But obviously it has its flaws. What happens now? Well, being that my foundation is built on sand, I am not sure how profitable this blog can be. I might be able to get it to product $25 per day, but I'm not sure if it can happen in 90 days (not with the time I can devote to it). I'm going to scale back my marketing efforts and see how things progress. I'll try to update this thread once a week (if I haven't, just send me a PM). I'll try and submit an article a week to EZA, as well as a new blog post once a week. I hope you guys have learned a little bit from this failed experiment (namely to use reliable resources to base your plans on). And like I have said before. Any help or feedback will be much appreciated. Best wishes, Joe
Noble experiment. This may sound like some newbie-ass question, but what is EZA an acronym for? I have to assume an article directory. Do those things really make money?
JoeMack I had a similar experience. I used Wordtracker and found a longtail keyword with 5,000 searches per day with a kei of about 1700. I made a site and was on Google's first page in the 8th spot within a week. I only get about 1 visit a day from Google. I just checked Wordtracker and the keyword now gets 1500 searches a day with a kei of about 1300. I still only get 1 visit a day from Google.
I understand you do not want to reveal the KW you are targeting, but will still ask..Could you tell us what the KW is ?
You don't even reach $1/day with that very low traffic. Post more articles and you can get some traffic from Search Engines.
