If more people actually knew of the history of 'in god we trust' I guarantee the stance would be a bit different. Many actually think it's been there and used since the constitution for our motto, which is far from the truth.
I think it first appeared on a few coins in the 1860's or 70's and latter added to paper money. I know some of the history and my stance is not different. I do think money should be backed 100% by gold.
That's just where jesus would want an affirmation of his dads existence, On money. If christians had any class they would be more against the tasteless location of this phrase than the atheists are. it's not really my position to say, Being English (we have Darwin on our money, Among other influential real people) But Americans who are against this should buy themselves a red pen and mark every note they receive with a small "A" in the top right corner.
