Proof that listing your URL in Facebook profile give instant backlink

I typed one of my URLs in this backlink checker: http://www.online-utility.org/webmaster/backlink_domain_analyzer.jsp and discovered the URL I have listed in my FaceBook profile is in this list of backlinks I am attaching. Thus, proof that listing your URLs with FaceBook does provide you with a valuable backlink. If you check Facebook's pagerank at http://www.validrank.com , you will see they are higher than DMOZ. Alas, the naysayers will indicate PR is nothing . . . but you STILL get that backlink

I've tried attaching to this forum before but they never work....assume a potential bug in the system. I have this particular screenshpot set at only 72DPI (in GIF format) and at 580 pix wide...go figure...

Thank Box...but I am not attaching this as a link but from as an actual file off of my hard drive. I thought that what this allowed. Imagehost-wise, I can definitely configure direct hyper links into the body of my posts, that part is not a prob. Oh well . . .

facebook links are nofollow and, although some sites pick up the links, they are not given any weight in google. sorry.

Yeah you can get backlinks on many large websites but if they are nofollow then the only thing you may get is traffic.

The SearchStatus plugin for Firefox isn't showing any of my links on Facebook as no-follow... Where are you getting that information?

Image link does not work. Would you mind reposting with an image host such as www.piccentral.net

I didn't realize that the link would show as a backlink if it was 'no follow'.

That's not the ONLY thing you may get. You're discounting all the other search engines. NoFollow is a Google thing. However, there are people who use Yahoo and the other search engines.

Niceilike suggested I try posting the screenshot at Piccentral so hope this works:

    http://www.piccentral.net/images/maklimrch60xcyhw3v8e.jpg

And the URL listed on fb profile is www.cartoonfile.net which I entered into the aforementioned backlink checker. NOW....something veerry veerry strange...after I mentioned this on DP, I re-checked that same URL and all the backlinks appear as usual EXCEPT fb!!

    ???????????????????(Twilight zone theme song)????????????????????????

It's probably just a coincidence. Backlink checkers often give varying results from day to day...even from hour to hour, sometimes.

AngelaE: Comments appreciated but that being said, why the heck would one of the results show up as a listing in FB if they have REL="NOFOLLOW"?
stranger & stranger as I get into all this....

Because some of these "backlink checkers" are powered by Yahoo and other types of sites. Yahoo does NOT discount 'NoFollow'; that's a Google thing. I have a backlink from YouTube...but it does me no good in Google.
