Wow, can you have that bidder PM me? I've got some turnkey websites that I'd like to sell for ridiculous amounts as well!

well, I offered him what he had spent but now all of a sudden after months and months of unsuccessful attempts to sell the site here and on sitepoint, he all of a sudden has a bid for $1200. I wish him luck on that sale.

I can get a phpfox license right on their forums for about $200 from people not needing it anymore. Custom design would be about $200 and vbulletin would be about 160. I can also buy a few mods for no more than $150 so that will put me at $710. So that's still $240 cheaper than my offer to him which I can use to advertise the new site :)

no, the site has not been sold yet.

as stated in my previous post the bid is tentative....meaning that the user who pm'ed me, wanted to pay through paypal. i replied with that i am only accepting escrow.com since i have been screwed before when selling a site through paypal. there were a couple of other items he had comments/questions on which i replied to.

as for the "all the sudden" having another bid for a this site in addition to yours for a sale that was listed months ago without it ever selling....why is it not possible? you basically bumped a thread that many users have not ever seen or known about. if this site interests someone else who was not aware of it until you brought back the thread, it is not uncommon for others to have interest in it as well...

i understand that the current proposed bid may be more than what you are willing to pay for it, and that is perfectly fine. i am not here to screw around with anyone and would not make up some fake bid. i am also not looking to essentially break even for this site. yes, your offer does exceed the amount paid for the software, forum, mods, etc....but does not take into account labor that took place in order to get it all together....this is not simply a site that just falls together in an hour or two....

my apologies if I jumped to conclusion about the "all of a sudden". Reason why I made that offer is because I know you guys have many projects going on and thought since the site has been online nearly a year that you won't mind getting back what you spent for it. I cannot offer anymore than $950 because it's a startup. I would need to put in at least $5k to get it going which I can do with any site startup and spending a lot less to develop it. I am curious as to how escrow.com will help in this situation? It's like a product that you buy where the buyer sends them the money and once you get the product and if everything is good then you allow escrow.com to release the money. So in your case the buyer sends the money to escrow.com and you have to hand over the script, code and all, domain name has to be transfered, so now the buyer has your domain, script and everything else, what if he tells escrow that its not what he's expected and do not release the money? Just t curious about that because I have never used it in this manner. My offer still stands at $950 paid via PayPal (instant transfer) if you want to sell it but I need to know right away because I am planning on purchasing a license now. I have dealt with a few people here on dp and they can tell you that i am honest with all my dealings. Please let me know.

hi, escrow.com has a pretty good explanation of how it works here:https://escrow.com/solutions/domain_name/index.asp

pm received and $1200 bid is now confirmed since bidder has agreed to use escrow.com for the purchase....so $1200 is the current bid on this listing.

Agreed, as I don't know many people that would even spend $200 on that site...

I'm excited to see what the high bidder has in store for this site... With a 1.2k bid, he's probably got some decent plans...

I hope you got the $1,200!

I'm interested to read more about this sale; just curious to see if someone actually paid that much for it...

still working the payment.....apparently the buyer is from the UK and having trouble funding his escrow.com account using paypal....so we will see.
