If anything to me it shows browntwn is a man of principle, coming forward and admitting it was him both to pizzaman and the forums themselves. Also explaining his attention was not for pizzaman to feel threatened.

I can't speak for what "we all" know. I can speak for what I know. I consider Browntwn to be a principled, intelligent, and eloquent member of the community. Whether we agree on everything or not, I'd gladly sit down with him anytime to engage in a fruitful discussion.

 

Totally agree. He is one of the few who I might not agree with all the time, but I respect his opinions on most every subject.

He uses facts and does not twist things for his own agenda.

 

I can't speak for Pizzaman, but I think after our PM's there is no animosity or ill will between us.

I am not one of those people who feels a need for everyone to like me. I do appreciate GRIM and northpointaki taking the time to post. Although it is not necessary.

I have never really agreed with Leo on too many posts, but I have gained some respect for him. He gave me + rep for my clarification post. That shows a lot about his character.

As I have said here and more importantly directly to pizzaman, I am sorry for any fear I caused him with my rep. I know the rep comment itself was not in any way threatening - but I can see how the use of a first name might have been upsetting - and for that, I apologized to him without reservation.

 

Thirded. browntwn is the most objective, reasonable and adult-acting poster here. He often confronts people when they exhibit an obvious bias or lack of objectivity. I have a feeling that's why thraxed has a problem with him.

I apologize browntwn for having a pre judged opinion about you and then being a pain from then on. It probally stemmed from an early disagreement or argument and then i held that pre judgment untill now. Anyway i hope we can start from a clean slate, and have some real debates in the future.

To me, it sounded like you were putting forth the absurd notion that some people think Israelis are perfect. You were doing so in typical strawman fashion where you make an absurd and untrue statement just to show it is wrong.

You took a thread about a single incident and tried to extrapolate it to all of Israel. The reason I used rep to comment to you was that I did not want to be a party to derailing the thread into an Israeli issue.

I was particularly bothered by your having made the comment because you claim to be such an even broker with respect to Israel and yet you were, for no reason that I could see, perpetrating negative comments about all Israelis.

I may have been harsh in my rep, but there is not a lot of room to make a point. I think your "feelings" about Israelis was very clear in your initial post on this thread. The fact that the story was from Israel was all but irrelevant and just as well could have been from anywhere.

As for my support of Israel, it is by no means unconditional. It may appear so on this forum, and as I once explained to guerilla, I find myself in that position because I think someone needs to stand up for Israel. There are plenty of people here to tear it down. I am not Israeli, I have never been to Israel. I am not religious. My only allegiance is to America. I want nothing more than to see peace in the middle east and for Palestinians to be living side by side with Israelis in a state of their own. I also have my eyes wide open and know that Israel fights for its every existence on a daily basis against many unfriendly nations that want nothing more than to see Israel gone for good.

 

the point of my criticism is more to the blind support of israel rather than Israelis and you got that. i do think that a lot of people excuse some of the things that some israelis say and do that should not. I believe this is strengthening the most radical of israeli society and stopping the peace process and even pushing israel into another war.some crazy shit! I chose this thread because it was not about a conflict. i thought it would be easier to show this.
you want me to take side. i already have taken a side. side of moderation and peace. Some of the Israelis on this forum have the most unbelievable ideas and yet you do not say nothing. these are extremists ideas. and not saying anything is enabling them. This is not good for US,Israel or the world. This is what i object to.
