Nothing comes up in a search for "reputation abuse," so maybe no one's ever complained about it before.

I don't know if it's possible abuse reputation. You can only rep 10 people in a day. And you can't rep the same person until you've repped several others.

rep abuse is probably new term here:) had never read it before!

it may be a problem if people start threads in BST to get green rep;)

Yes, you can abuse the rep system. Rep is generally an unmoderated area. That means we will NOT remove rep just because you find it offensive.

What constitutes "rep abuse" would be something like two family members, co-workers, etc. leaving each other rep to increase rep in the forum (that would fall under a potential duplicate account ban), If someone leaves rep pretending to be someone else intentionally (such as signing it with a moderator's name) and we find out about it b/c the receiver reports it, etc. The most common form of what we call rep abuse is when you ask in your thread for people to leave you rep (or in your sig or anywhere else - you may NOT bring any attention to it, even asking via PM). In general, if you get rep, you have to live with it until it's no longer in your most recent 5.
