Does anyone here know if you could use adsense to make money and not pay income tax and get away with it?
You can certainly get away with it. But the gov likes it's money, if yer caught evading taxes they'll prosecute you worse than if you killed someone. You can avoid paying taxes on the money if you have enough business expenses (domain registration, web hosting, adwords etc.) to account for the money made through adsense. But I think the goal of all of us is to be operating in the black instead of the red.
If you earn less, then you should not worry but if you earn a decent amount then you should pay tax..only thing you can do is hire an intelligent CA/Tax adviser so that he can get you maximum benefits
a close friend of mine makes a ton of money online. He didn't report it for like 4 years. He's now serving 5 years in prison. Paying taxes sucks. But it better than ending up in the slammer or in debt paying back the government.
When you sign-up for AdSense, you give them your SSN. If you make over $600/year, Google reports your earnings to the IRS. The IRS knows how much you made. If you don't report them, they know you're cheating, and you're in big trouble.
Are you sure it's 600 dollars a year? How do I set up to pay taxes anyway? Do I call the government? What do I do? I don't have a "real job." I don't really think that AdSense makes it clear how you should go about paying taxes...
Last time I checked, you have to make over $1000 to have to pay taxes. If you're around there, I wouldn't worry about it. The IRS isn't going to quibble over a hundred bucks in tax.
You can legally get away with not being taxed if you have made under $600 as a freelancer. Otherwise, you should pay taxes... yes taxes suck, but that's life. As well, I would definitely post this under a different forum topic, like legal issues. Even more, get on some other websites and research... unless if you get in contact with a professional lawyer/accountant from DP.
Yeah, taxes suck, but take it from me, the taxes you pay now are a relatively small amount compared to what they are when penalties and interest are added. Take it from me. I went without paying for 3 years. They caught me, I've been paying and I still owe $5000 with a 25% interest rate. Now, you do realize that the computer your typing on, the internet, the room you're sitting in, the cellphone in your pocket, that printer paper, those adwords costs, man, I could go on all day...all of those are write-offs. Don't be afraid to itemize!
I believe in the UK you are allowed to earn somewhere around the £5,000 mark tax free. So remember if you have a job as well the income from your job will also be counted as well as income from websites.
Sure. From this page: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum89/5861.htm "The limit is $600. Google is required by law to report your income to the irs if it is at least $600. So, there is no question above that limit."
Good idea! It would be great if there were more tax cheats. It would be awesome if the roads didn't get paved, the bridges not maintained, the schools not funded, the public water supply not treated. So I hope you "get away with it" for the public good.
