Will Cuil Kill Google? Where will Cuil be in a year? - Pridictions

Discussion in 'All Other Search Engines' started by atiq, Aug 19, 2008.

Cuil is different. Cuil's claim to have indexed three times as many pages as Google, and 10 times as many pages as Microsoft.

This alone will give Cuil significant media coverage but the question is "will it grow popular in coming years or it will fade, just as 90's search stars such as AltaVista, Lycos, and LookSmart"

    What do you think
Where will Cuil be in a year?

Purely depends on the management style of CUIL if they are dynamic, aggressive and ethical with a perception to share and gain then they have a lot of space in this web world., or it will just be another Search Engine.., just adding one to the huge engines already available

I have high hopes for CUIL... I think if they play their cards right - they will be a successful search engine. I just hope they don't focus on being number 1... G is #1 and they can be a very successful #2 or #3... its a hard lesson to learn not to try to go directly after the #1 position!

I think what Google was doing is just like Microsoft. They will try to "buy" cuil when they feel that there is potential. Eventually it will only become part of Google. This is what I guess.....

The quality of their search results is fairly low. IMO... Google, then Yahoo, then MSN, then Cuil (which is way behind).
Google also has strong branding because they spend a lot of money making sure their brand gets entrenched. Notice how in movies the characters will say "do a Google search" or "I looked on Google maps" (Shooter).

Cuil will be dead. They should realize they have a stinker on their hands.

    I seriously doubt their claim.

Many of my sites aren't indexed in Cuil.

On the other hand, Google indexes every site that it can find (unless it is banned by Google).

Cuil is an easy-to-forget product.....and will fade away as the media hype dies down.

I can't stand their results page. To me at least, it's very difficult to absorb at a short glance, the way one does with Google, Yahoo!, etc. The images in the SERPs are often unrelated to your webpage. I have zero percent interest in using Cuil.

I didn't like their results page, although if they keep indexing the way they have claimed so far and enough people find out about it. Theres a massive chance it will become big, but not bigger than Google.

They certainly used the fact that they were Google employees to market it, however the results and the images that were not always for the right site, left a lot to be desired. It made me desire Google results.

I like the name. It's pronounced "cool".

I always hear people say "Google It".

So perhaps we will soon hear people say "Cuil (Cool) It". Well we already do of course, but in a different context.

The fact that they are ex-Google employees doesn't impress me. Every company of any size has ex-employees, who have demonstrated varying degrees of expertise and past successes. Now if those ex-employees were Sergey Brin and Larry Page, that would impress me!

Same here. I really don't know why everyone keeps bringing Cuil up. I think it's kind of dumb. Why use Cuil when Google and Yahoo have listed 10-15 years worth of pages?

Cuil is useless. No one will remember it in 1 year. You can quote me on that.
