Hi i was wondering how come people here on dp are able to charge $1 for a 500 word article? Are they using any article writing software or stealing the articles from other sources or is their is some other reason . I desperately want to know this :(

This question is in the wrong place. You could possibly get an infraction for it.

Try general chat or the copywriting area. Posts that aren't related to actual content creation usually gets an infraction.

I got two just yesterday for posting prewritten articles in this section & that is actual content not just a question. i would ask the mods to move your thread

The quality shave to be compromised if you are purchasing $1 per 500 words

thats what i am asking we should set some minimum and maximum rates for articles like for a 500 word article no one should charge less than $4 , this will bring uniformity to the system :)

Why should people be forced to do something because someone else wants them too?

    Each to their own.

Okay theres no point in me posting really. Again if your not happy with the competition or the way things are on DP find a different place to work its that simple.

Why they choose to do it for such a low rate is beyond me but who cares? Maybe they really are desperate for money and its the only way they can get it.

Try finding yourself clients with a different approach instead of complaining about what others are doing.

If they are looking for cheap rates then obviously you didn't qualify for the job in the first place.

I disagree. It should be a free market.

I do agree with you however that a 500 word article should not be less than $5 but should be even higher than that.

There have been a lot of discussions on this topic in the forum lately. If you look around you will have more viewpoints to consider. In most cases when a writer offers their work at crazy low prices you will get crap. Even some that charge gigher rates aren't very good. I have actually found several writers who did excellent work for 0.01 per word. But I have spent money on many others who's work I had to rewrite or even discard. In the end I would have been much better if I had paid 0.02 per word (assuming they would all be good and usable).

A lot of people write for 0.01 per word when they first start. Perhaps they are new to the forum and they have no reputation.

And just as a note - I ordered two articles from the member offering 500 word write ups for $1. One of them was farily good, I edited it a little, but it wasnt bad at all. The other one took a little more reworking, but still it wasnt bad at all. I think if you need the right topics the guy can do very well. I plan to let him do more for me.

As far as the actual value of the words go, it depends upon the subject and how in depth the writing needs to be. I think 0.01 is fine for a lot of general topics with little research, but 0.05 is not too much for something that requires a lot of research and development. There is no one answer to "how muc should the per word rate be?"

Also, as has been mentioned in other threads, there are writers who live in countries like India where the dollar has more buying power than it does here at home. Therefore these people can work for lower rates and still feel well paid. True, many of them do not fully grasp English, but there are also many who do.

WHEW! Sure didnt think I was going to type this much.....

I have been reading about this on the other threads as well, and though I know that this is probably not the right place to write about it, I just thought I'll put in a word. I really wonder what is it about the Indian writers that makes people say that they are happy working for peanuts, look around you, there are so many native US and UK writers offering services equally cheap and sometimes even cheaper. Its all about being competitive in the buyers market and has nothing to do with the cost of living anywhere. A good writer, wherever he may belong to, would always demand a higher rate compared to the others. For the rest its a free market and people charge as they deem fit.

No it won't, it just means you'll now be paying $4 for the same crappy article you used to get for $1.

there is no way you will get a quality 500 word article for less than $5. Nobody is going to spend more than 5 mins writing an article if they are only getting paid $1.

A couple of years ago I took on a low-paying project, thinking I'd ease up on my usual writing standards and still earn a decent hourly wage. I think I ended up averaging $4 an hour. There was no way I could sacrifice quality (and I wasn't even getting a byline!).

Lol, so some writers actually do spit out quality work for peanut pay. (Boy, did I learn a valuable lesson on that project.)

I am totally agree with goldy087, how can anyone work for just peanuts and I am sure they can not do quality work with these rates, they are surely upto some copypasting job. These types of writers are even spoiling the markets of other writers.

I disagree... I started off writing 500 word articles for a dollar... That was over a year ago... I needed a break, was desperate for money and earning $10 a day was a great deal of money for me then... All my clients but one were satisfied with what I wrote for them...

Oh, and no, I wouldn't write an article in just 5 minutes... I would sit for up to an hour writing an article, if that was needed...

So, I guess, to answer the thread OP's question, either it's a new kid on the block who offers good quality, or is someone looking at taking advantage of the popular belief that a dollar can't produce good, worth-reading 500 words... ;)
