This thread is for people who use Linux and prefer it over the old n boring windows... Please post comments about Linux and its use...it might help for its promotion..lol And also, people who want to try it, but did not get chance/time to install it. FYI: The servers on which your site is hosted is Linux based... but why you still prefer windows for your PC??? You can do alot of things which can give your business a boost on Linux but not on the crappy windows. Waiting for the replies...
I use both OS. A fan of Red Hat Linux, Fedora and Ubuntu here. For me, i still use Windows because of games. Majority of the world best games title is released for Windows platform and I don't even see Linux is coming close to it when it comes to PC gaming. Other than that, most of the thing you can do in Windows, can also be done in Linux.
glad to see someone other than me who is using linux here... well yes windows is good for gaming...but if you see for the serious (non-gamers, i mean) user, Linux is obviously better. The most important aspect being, it is free of viruses.
currently i'm working on SuSE 10.3 but i've got Slackware 12.0 also (which i like more)... though i've tried a lot of them..
do not go for automatic partitioning...get an expert to partition your hard drive for linux, otherwise you might end up loosing your data.
I got a yard sale computer for $10 to do it on, My computer skill aren’t that sharp and I can’t afford to mess up my work computer. Thanks, I was wondering which one I should try.
I think linux is good for certain things like running servers and windows is good for other things like running desktops
debian but it comes you with a lot of problems.. i dont think it is for last users.. if you wonder linux systems.. you must start with ubuntu !
if you'll be new at linux, i suggest ubuntu.. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download you can use ubuntu + windows together.. it's installiation is very easy and simple.. it's using your empy disk space.. and you dont miss your winxP or data on it..
I dont use linux but i am fan of it.. I see that my RAM is more efficient there. I saw it when i installed UBUNTU and also in a live CD
