Two separate blogs with identical content

    Hi everybody,

Would it make sense for me to have two separate blogs (one on Blogger and the other on Wordpress) with the same exact content? For example, every time I write a post about something, I post it on both blogs.

Your opnions would be appreciated. Thx

Not really much point - or any point - search engines hate duplicate content and would favour one over the other.

Google doesnt like duplicates. Make 1 website and promote it as much as you can. 2 sites means double the work for half the return.

I would say no, unless you are testing. It's better to focus your time and energy on one.

It cannot help you with anything, on other hand it can be a point for your website to get banned in SEs for duplicate content.

So pointless to put such efforts!

Thanks guys. I kind of suspected that it could be counted as duplicate content.

gd for split testing to find out which format works better, but other than that this is pretty much useless due to duplicate content issues for SEO purposes.

The duplicate content issue that others have pointed out is non-existent and is a common webmaster misconception found on DigitalPoint, as I found out in this post of mine on content rewriting. While one site will obviously rank higher than another, you could get traffic to both and having two sites in the top ten is better than only having one. I say go for it - why not?

That's a nice trick but the main concern here would be that you need to optimize both the website to rank well (as each one competes with every website).

Then, why not to put efforts of both website on 1 website and get ranked very good, then getting good rank for two websites ? Your website on 1st page will bring more visit then having 2 websites on page 2, IMO.

i think split testing is a good idea especially when starting a new site but it should all be done under one domain for several reasons. the two biggest are that it limits the amount of variables in the test and duplicate content can get you de-indexed in SE.

I have tried this. Only one copy gets indexed.

I really do not see much point in having two identical sites. Why would one work better than the other, if they are identical?
Getting 1000 links to one site will have more effect than 500 links to two sites each. Having a #1 spot or a #11 and a #12 spots. What do you prefer?

If they are partly identical and you are worried about duplicating content, just link one to the other and Google will count one as original.

Dupe content = nonstarter. You're just shooting yourself in the foot.

Like everyone else above I'd definitely recommend against this. Pick one to concentrate on, add a few unique articles to your secondary blog and link from your secondary blog to your primary one.
