Photoshop does use a lot of resources , what are your computer specs? And yes , increasing more ram will help a lot. You can usually add more ram if I were you I'd get at least 2 gigs. But you can go for 4 gigs which i doubt is necessary but its all up to you . Rember though , 32bit Windows only supports up to 3.5gigs of memory. if you have 64 bit windows , that should be no problem.

adding more ram will not help actually.

Ram should be in proportion to your processor configuration then only both (RAM and processor) works best for your PC.

Look for your processor speed then decide how much ram you can use with it, even then if it does not help try for any graphics card amy be photoshop will like it. other wise upgrade your pc.

If you have 1 GB then most likely you have two 512 MB sticks, I'd remove both and throw in two 2 GB sticks, ram is so cheap now.

EDIT: I thought you had a laptop, if it's a desktop just add 1 more 2 GB stick, you should have 4 slots. If it's a laptop you only get 2 slots.

You need to find out which sort of ram first:

ddr, ddr2 and ddr3 are the msot commonly used at the moment.

Then buy the fastest mhz that the slot can support.

If you name the processor (right click "My computer" shortcut and click properties, it should list it there) then post it here I can probably guess the ddr type.

well what model is your pc ? There are different types of ram they offer and you need to know certain specs. Easiest way to find that out if you dont really know much about your pc is to get the model number and search google for ex. "Dell blah blah Ram specs"

Processor wont tell you much , its the motherboard you need to know about and seeing that you dont know much about computers, it would be difficult for me to ask you what motherboard model you have . Thats why its better if you posted the model of your whole PC. But if I had to guess , your using DDR2 PC6400 800mhz. <--That would still work even if you had the DDR2 PC5400 or DDR2 PC4200 . The ram would just basically "downgrade" to work on ur motherboard.
