what is 301 redirection? and what are the advantages of doing this?

    can any one please let me know what is the advantages and disadvantages of 301 redirection. If I do this for my site then what problem I may face?

    What kind of 301 redirection are you talking about? 301 redirections can be done for ensuring that your site is always accessed with 'www' or always accessed without www. It can also be used if you move from one URL structure to another URL structure. Or if you change your domain name..

    Which scenario are you talking about here?

    a 301 redirect is to tell search engines that the content from page xyz as "moved permanently" to page abc

    It is used to direct the SE's about your pages, You can do 301 Redirect for your domains also.. if you bought a new one..

    I think in 301 redirection don't have any Disadvantages...........
