So I know everyone says blogs and articles is one of the best ways to get traffic... well I'm not really seeing it. I have about 100 articles and 3 blogs. I get about 1 visiter per article per day and from the blogs maybe 3 visitors per blog per day. I don't think this is good or the norm and if it's the norm that is just really depressing. Also traffic from them are so unreliable due to the fact they come through from search engines and ranks always fluctuate. How does people do it? Do i need 1000 articles so I get 1000 visitors a day? Also forum marketing is just about impossible with my niche, no forums will allow any kind of link in your sig no matter how much value you put into your posts or how long you've been posting. Social bookmarking also isn't that great for traffic (only backlinks) to my niche. And yes I've submitted blogs to directorys and rss directories in case you were going to say that EDIT: BTW i just realized I make it sound like I only get 1 visitor a day and 3 visitors a day on my blog/articles, I really mean click throughs to my money landing pages.
Well...I know something you guys don`t know... But you have to pay for the info. You could get over 100 visitors daily very simple, if you would know what I know...
the answer is - links, links links! if you want more search engine traffic, you need better rankings. 80% of searchers click on a link on the first page. The other 20% are shared with the results of the 2nd page. Which means that if you are ranking high for searches with say medium competition (5,000 searches/month) most of them don't even go past the second page (this is data I got from seodigger). So you need to either a)go for words with alot of volume so that even if you are on the low second page or 3rd page you get a little bit of traffic.......OR b) alot better, go for words that will land you on the first page. Get alot of anchor text links for those words. Use a keyword tool then check and see the first 10 pages of results. Look for a)the domain age of the ranking sites b)if the keywords (exact match) is in the title c)use a tool to see how many links they have. Alot of times (esp. with yahoo and msn) if you have more anchor text links then the high ranking sites, you can get first page. Or, consider buying some aged domains (already with aged links) and starting blogs on them. Good luck!
Quality Unique Content this will get you more traffic. I started a new blog 4 days ago and already im am getting over 600 uniques a day from Google alone.
You need to go to the source. If they are good interesting articles you can post them on sites like digg. then when people click throught they will like what they see and hopfully remember your site. The key to it is you need Links, without links or amazing SEO people arn't going to find your site. You could always pay for advertising but there is plenty of free ways to get the links as well. Regards, Tom
Just a quick tip...... 'top ten' or '100 best' seem to be the flavours of the month For example: 1) If your blog is on web design: "the ten common mistakes every website should not make" 2) If your blog is on fashion: "50 must wear items this summer" digg / stumbleupon etc. all seem to really like this types of article
I think it depends on the niche, like I said I don't get much traffic from social bookmarking sites due to what my niche is... Plus I only want targeted traffic and those usually come through from google or from articles. It's very difficult to rank well with google for my keywords because it's a very competitive niche. My site is still very new so it jumps around the serps, but it is ranking for the keywords I want (but only when google decides to put it on first page for a few hours). My main question though was how to get traffic from articles and blogs while my main site is tossed around by google... I guess I should clarify that I only want targeted traffic not just any traffic. thanks for everyone's suggestions and fliply those are great ideas for my next articles too
If you are wanting targeted traffic than SEO is definiitely the one that you want to be focusing on. Although you said your market is highly competitive why not instead of going for the big keywords break them down in to smaller less competitive long tail keywords and other keywords with smaller competition this will be the starting point for you to rank highly for your main keywords later on. SEO is a long term process and shouldn't be the only way you depend on traffic at first, you need to figure out where else you can get your targeted traffic.
Yea I know, it's just hard to think of any except for articles... and I guess yahoo answers but I don't know how much converting traffic I can expect from there. Seems like a lot of young teenagers hang on that site.
Well initially I thought you were getting 1 visitor per day and 3 visitors per day on your blog/articles but it seems that based on your clarification, what you actually mean is click through rates. I don't know what's the traffic like because you don't mention it here, but I would say 1-3% conversion out of the total traffic should be normal.
Get your site out there, make an article targeted for Stumbleupon eg: if you had a site like mine a surfing site then you could make an article like this.. http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/www....ost-dangerous-surf-wipeouts-caught-on-camera/ Amazing links from related surfing sites and a nice backlink from stumbleupon with valuable traffic from targeted surfers. I'd say all them 35 people came back to my site.
Just keep writing .. if you make mistakes along the way its ok just dont stop writing. write about everything. the more you put out there ... the greater your chances are to hit the jackpot.
Noobs, and, the morons who assume are saying that. Blogs, boards, signatures, is one of the worst. You read a lot of lies, made up screenshots and exaggerations. The more experienced, and the ones with a brain knows the reality of this "method." Although you can get traffic from articles, it depends on WHERE you are publishing them. Your best bet is to submit a proposal to content sites, like online magazines for writing weekly articles. TARGET your articles, while at the same time staying away from the competitors, like what is found in such networks as ezine. You can get traffic from networks, but many times it is very little, and it is not consistent. If you cannot get a certain number of traffic from, say, a dozen articles at a particualr site, drop that site and move on to the next one. If you can't get any results by then, why keep doing it? Submiting a lot of articles is not the answer. It consumes a lot of your time, and your frustartion builds because of all the articles you are submitting and getting very little in return. You mean the successful ones, like shoemoney and chow? They started out with advertising. Then they got word of mouth going. Oddly enough, chow did a lot of DIGG submissions. He had a good site, at the time, and they came back. Overtime his traffic grew. That's another thing. It can take over a year, several years, in fact. It took over two years for chow to get his traffic up. Oh, and search engines...you can go believe in it if you want, but they are overrated. Is shoemoney, chow and the other successful bloggers out there listed high? And of the ones I have seen that have been lucky enough to land high, they don't have that much traffic. I may have pissed you off, but, sorry, that is the reality of seo, and getting traffic to ANY site. But just know that others have done it, which means you can too.
copper12, don't know why you think that might piss me off it's good to hear it as it is. I'll be writing articles to rank for all my keywords and getting baclinks for them. Eventually I hope to get top SERPS for a whole bunch of them on my main website. thanks for all the suggestions
