@mcaronan: Lol.. Yeah.. That was an issue when it came out, but it was fixed in all virus programs LONG TIME AGO. Believe me.. Think of all that computers sold with preinstalled Vista. If the virus-app companies didn't fix those problems, they would loose a LOT of costumers!!!
So you've been in IT for 25 years, and you're complaining about running old software that isn't compatible on new OS?
To be entirely honest, if you have been in IT that long you would have respect for Microsoft and the flak they recieve for trying to move technology forward. If Microsoft were like you, BDazzler, we would still be fiddling with 5MB HDD's and complaining that 256KB of Ram is too much and overhauls the system. I have come across winhelp32.exe and I just downloaded off Microsofts website. No big. But why you blame Vista for that I just do not know.
Well I had issues before with ff and vista now I am furious. For 2 days I have tried to partition my drive. But you have to format and the built in program doesn't move large fragments. So you have to disable a ton of things then it still wont work. So you download the recommended defrag software and it wont help. So now a 120gig hard drive with over 70gigs free cant be partitioned since the resize program only sees 1077mb free space. So now the option is to buy a $50 dollar software to partition a hard drive which vista should have been able to do. Then I was one of the idiots who bought the support and they hardly speak English and cant fix the issue as they are the ones who recommended the software I need to get
@rik9000: Yeah.. But we can't live with 512mb for 100 years. World is changing. Technology is changing. It not, we would have been using dos, 300mhz processors etc. Can't believe that people continues thinking in old stuff, and not relay on technology. Are you complaining about Vista and it's requirements (which, in my opinion, is pretty basic hardware compared to the hardware you'll find in 2008. You can EASILY build up a Vista ready PC from scratch for about $767) because you don't have enough money to hardware? Or??
I'm complaining that the new OS is deliberately designed to be incompatible.... maybe you are too young to remember when Microsoft didn't rule the world, young one ... but in the early times, when we used stone knives and bear skins to build computers the size of buses, there were many operating systems... DOS, and later windows, become dominant because it was better at backwards compatibility than the others ... you ever hear of CPM86? No? I didn't think so, it was at one time a major competitor of MS-DOS. Which evolved into windows ... MS got big because it had the backing of people like me who vouched for it, we believed in it... We were betrayed. Am I surprised? No MS has betrayed me many times over the years and will betray me again. Including legally "stealing" some of my work and selling it. Oh, my lawyer found the loophole buried in the contract, there's nothing I can do about it ... but in the day they were helping us "stick it" to IBM ... they promised us freedom ... we were young, we believed. Now, they're 100 time worse than IBM ever was ... I'm not surprised at it, quite the contrary, But I'm not happy ... and I want to vent. Don't worry, your day will come ... Maybe in 20 years, when they decide that the OS on your neural implants doesn't need to be backwards compatible, but hey keep defending them ... I sure did.
VISTA is the most worse OS !! , nothing good about it expect the new heavy graphics used in windows and some other things , it has some bugs too, if you want to Run VISTA you must have a very powerful machine ! all new laptops come on VISTA now :damn:
Do you also hate certain foods because people hate them too? Way to be unique and learn things on your own.
That was biased and I don't believe Microsoft's promotion techniques because they could hire paid actors.
Vista is a browser for newbies who don't look anything beyond nice-looking graphics. A powerful webmaster or developer may only use it for testing purposes but with the knowledge that this is the worst operating system ever. Enhaced security??? hahaha, Microsoft only covered Windows security holes with tricky displays to make you believe Vista is "safe"
I needed hardware with certain capabilities, and it came with vista. I tried to "downgrade" but it didn't work ... I couldn't get what I really wanted because it was no longer available, or at least not available in the time frame I needed it, so I settled for Vista rather than spending the time necessary to upgrade ... yes it is true, we should not blame Vista ... we should blame the management of Microsoft who used their de-facto monopoly in an anti-competitive way to force me to use their product ... It's not the product's fault, it's the people who make the product and force it down my throat ... you are correct.
