here is what im doing im using adwords suggestion tool to find my keywords list then i rearrange them by Approx Avg Search Volume and then optimizing my pages for these keywords, correct me if im doing something wrong my question is targeting highly searched keywords according to Approx Avg Search Volume column is the best strategy or targeting keywords with less searches ? im talking here about if highly searched keywords means more difficults to get ranked for those keywords ? also i need to know if im suppose to take in mind the Advertiser Competition column results or its just for ppc adverstisers?
Also consider to check with Awstats which let you know the keywords which people used to find your site, good to target especially some unique & long tail keywords.
The advertiser competition column is just or PPC ads, but you may want to use this information in some way as if people are prepared to pay money for traffic on a keyword, then it might be considered competitive. The usual measure of competition, is to search for the term on Google and note the number of sites returned. The simplest equation is to select low competition with high traffic. If you simply target the high traffic terms, you are usually going to work much harder to rank against th competition.
does number or results related some how to how much this word can give high traffic? i used to conisder only number of searches on adwords tool as a the only measure to know if this keywords has a good traffic but i realy need to know what number of results when searching for this keywords in google can give me in my analysis !
the answer is simple - low searched keywords give you possibility to move your site up, as a competition is low
If you want to win you need to go where the competition isn't, but not so much so that the words are never used.
great point thats all i want to know ,how to decide if this keywords is have enough searches to take it or leave it is there a minimum searches number or average or something else ?
That's a really good question. I suppose there is no perfect answer. I provide SEO in Tucson so I target Tucson SEO. This is never going to be a highly used phrase but it is what I do. You have to find a balance that works for you.
lets make it this way: i want to target my own niche in technlogy so i user"technology" in adwrods tool to find too many keywords with different Approx Avg Search Volume starting from 11,100,000 and goes to 1,900 so what is good average of Approx Avg Search Volume should i take? is choosing a keyword with Approx Avg Search Volume about 10000 means that this keyword will get me good traffic ?
What your are doing is fine but Google's data is off of the PPC side of search not all search. It will give you the keyword combinations to target but can you get to page one? If your are not in the top ~20, you are not in the game.
