what if you have a site that got penalized through no fault of it's own, and then you 301 that site.... will the site you 301 to get penalized too?

I wasn't speaking about a specific url, just a general concept about all sites that might be penalized

as far as reasons, sometimes google penalizes or sandboxes new sites because they grew too fast, or people linked to the site from bad neighborhoods and there weren't enough good links to counter that, or all kinds of reasons.... so yes, there are reasons, but it is not necessarily the fault of the webmaster or something they did wrong.

but my question still is, will a penalty or sandbox move with the 301?

If a site is penalized and you 301 redirect to other site, the site that receive the 301 will not be penalized.
Imagine how easy will be to make that google penalize you a domain (heavy link spam) and then redirect this domain 301 to your competition?

thank you, that is what i was wondering about, so it would be unfair for google to apply that penalty to the new site

so this does provide some solution for people that have put alot of time into a site that google might be unfairly penalizing, they could just scrap it and 301 to a different domain and go from there

    thanks for the info
