I am just trying to sort out url re-writing on my forum so it is the same as the post title and I just noticed on DP they don't have seo on their urls.

i.e the thread url is numbers and default words - not related to the post.

 

it is better to have text in your urls rather than query strings helps search engines to understand your pages better

 

I know. That's what I am saying. DP doesn't have it. I was surprised because it is a forum focused in SEO.

 

There is no point of SEO for DP because of the amount of traffic here already. It will be just a waste of time.

 

I was wondering the exact same thing the other day - DP could be bigger than it already is (although it is hard to imagine)

 

But if you have a website you always want to keep growing!

Plus the traffic hasn't always been here.

 

Thing is DP still ranks real well when looking up long tail keywords. I always find a DP thread when looking up marketing about certain internet subjects.

 

Yeah something i noticed too, i am not sure why not. It seems monetizing and optimising the forums are not something of a major importance to Shaun (DP owner, i think).

DP does rank quite well for some keywords however considering "Internet marketing" is one of DP's keywords they don't rank that well for it. However it is a very competitive keyword.

 

I'm sure its been considered. Maybe its too hard to implement at this stage.

 

URL Rewriting has very limited effect compared to the PR of DP forum and the back links pointing to its home page and sub pages, you can ignore its effect

 

but as I said before, DP had to start somewhere. I was wondering why it wasn't done when the forum was made.

But, I have noticed some times that if you search for specific stuffs in Google, DP thread comes in top in SERP.

Nope! Haven't noticed! I guess because what I have been searching not relate to info on this forum. Anyway, I am pretty sure that DP is very popular and it is probably mentioned in many other forums, even foreign language forums, etc. A matter of fact, I was here as a result of reading info in another language!

 

Here is my guess about this: DP has other main business, this forum is just a like a hobby starting out.... And boom! It's growing like crazy!
