How many sales a day should I get with 100 uniques/$8 product

    Hi,

My website gets from 80-130 unique visitors a day, 80% from search engines (so it's targeted).

    My product is only $7.99.

How many sales a day do you think is average and a good target?

    Thanks,
    Charlie.

(PS: I just believe my CTR is too small).

It totally depends on your site design, what you are selling, how you mention it, and of course who the traffic is.

But yes, its difficult to sell. I'd figure generally it would take like 500/UV on average for one sale.

Check if you can exceed your price making it $9.99 and offer people $2/product for referral or affiliate commission, I think it would increase your conversion without making any loss. :)

I think Magda got it right with the math, for a low ticket product you should get 4% conversions. I'm curious, are you trying to build a list with the traffic you generate through an opt in form? This way you can offer a valuable newsletter on your topic, build your reputation, and have another chance at offering your product to your opt ins - research suggests that it takes 7 points of contact before the average online prospect feels comfortable buying from someone.

    SEO traffic is the worse.

But what was mentioned before, it depends on the look of your site, and so forth.

You will have to get a hell of a lot more traffic than that to see even one sale. Even if you have a nice site and a nice product.

Did you just say SEO traffic is the worst....?

Traffic from search engine's is some of the best quality traffic you can get. You really don't know what you're talking about. Some niche's are known to convert sales in as low as every 50 visitors with quality targetted traffic. Do you have any marketing experience at all or are you making the answers up off the top of your head?

Yes you have it wrong SEO traffic is the best converting traffic as it is targeted. In my opinion worst traffic comes from Stumble etc (Digg is good but it will more than likely crash your server). I would say you need at least 200UV per sale which is what I was getting for a product I was selling, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. But like also said above a lot of it depends on the product and where it is reviewed at etc because you could have a higher conversion rate than normal.

I think that it is impossible to say what to expect to sell from a site. If the sales letter or call to action is poor then you can have 1000UV for zero sales.

It also depends on how targeted the trafic is as well as how they have arrived there and why!

Have you ever been featured on the Digg homepage and seen the amount of traffic that comes through. It is known to even crash larger hosting plans than basic economy packages.

There are many variables to look at here which will have an effect on how many you could sell such as sales page, product, whether the traffic is targeted or not.

You can't just ask this and expect an accurate answer, most of these answers will be estimates taking a global estimate or guess.

Uh, yeah, I did. But I will rephrase that. It is ONE of the worst.

Well, now, I guess you should know, since you are ranked high. What is your url, and the keywords you are under?

    Okay. Show the sites.

    About 5-year's worth.

Did you just say SEO traffic is the worst....?

You mean like the dumbasss on this board and on other boards do? Nope, don't have to.

Will wait for your url, and the examples of sites, other than already well-known shopping sites, that can convert sales in as low as every 50 visitors from seo, or from any source.

    Thanks.

You shouldn't look at the unique visitors, but at the number of clickthroughs to your product/affiliate link. It's a better measurement than unique visitors.

In general, 1 conversion out of 100 clicks or 1% is considered average and should be the bare minimum of what you should aim for. 2% is considered good. Anything over 4% is just awesome.

With that said, 100 unique visitors isn't a lot and you will only make sporadic conversions. Keep in mind that many people leave your site the second they see it, because it might not be what they are looking for. So while you might have 100 uniques, 40 of them probably clicked back to the previous page with maybe 3 of those uniques actually clicking on what you're selling. So that means you probably need 3300 uniques to make 1 conversion a day. That's reality for ya.

Install Google Analytics into your site and you can see what your site's bounce rate is (the people who come to your site, but leave without click anything on your site) and when you find that out, you can tweak your site accordingly.

Depends on a lot of variables, so the conversion rate is always different.

Your site design, payment methods, product properties and hundreds of other factors play a role when it comes to conversions. So, there really is no way of giving an esteem without even having seen the site and product.

It does not crash people that have their own servers, it crashes people trying to run a business on a $7 virtual account.

How about YOU post what keywords / positions you held? Obviously you had some extremely crappy phrases covered or you'd know what converts 1:50.

Here's a hint for you Clueless, people buy adwords and make a profit. Some people spend millions of dollars on this horrible traffic and would buy more if available. They are converting 1:50 or better.

    5 years my rear end.

    Cheers :)
