    Hi
I downloaded a free website template from a website and saved it in a file. it comes with an html document, adobe photoshop image, and smaller images (such as some names, etc). How would I open it and edit the website template now? since one of my websites probably needs a better design and im on a tight budget, so I cant get it redesigned, so I found this good template that could be a good match for now.

    any help appreciated, thanks

you just open the webpage, then view>source and you edit it from there

I used sitespinner instead of dreamweaver to create the site originally, but I kept adding pages to my site, and now it loads kinda slow and off for some reason. I need to edit the text on the template, but I basically needed a new design to my website as well.

okay, so It says I need dreamweaver of photoshop6+ to open it, I cant open it with sitespinner, which is the software I had bought instead. so basically I cant open or use it without paying for another software?

No, not at all. The only tool you NEED to edit a .html document is a text editor.

I have no experience with "sitespinner" but I cant imagine that it's harder than the following,

    1)

    Open sitespinner

    2)

    File > Open

    3)

Look for the index.html file in the directory that the template is in.

    4)

    Edit

However, I would recommend that you just open the file in notepad and just change the text to whatever you want it to read. Much easier.

    Hello,

For html pages you can edit with Dreamweaver or CoffeeCup HTML Editor, images you can edit with Paint, Adobe Photoshop - and now you can start playing with it, modify text, links, images...etc

    have fun!

Ya, I tried to open the html file in sitespinner, but it just comes up with an error and wont open. Sitespinner says -it needs to be in the correct IMS format.

otherwise I am not good with html using the text editor
