Duplicate Content Is Not BAD for SEO!

Many people think that duplicate content is bad for SEO. They believe that Google deducts points from your site if they see that there is a duplicate or copy of it anywhere else on the internet. Let me tell you, duplicate content is not a bad thing. Google will not deduct any points or rankings from your site for having it. It shows that there are many "people" interested in the topic, and in your site.

i must agree with you here...why?
let's take it logically....content can't be protected from copying and pasting into another website...well at least not so easy...tomorrow i can create a site like ezinearticles.com , copy all their articles and so on...that doesn't mean their site will go down...

Google will filter out duplicate content from their index. If you copy someone else's content your site won't rank for it. If you create an entire site of duplicate content you'll find your site with a penalty.

Putting up a small percent of duplicate content that is mostly news won't hurt your site. But it won't help either.

same articles are all over the internet..who made this article copy rule?
just copy an old article from any known article directory and put it into copyscape.com...you will be amazed...
i have a blog and i take articles from different website, adding the author links to them and not changing a single word...what did google do to me? a pr3 from pr0 and a lot of pr2 internal ones...also i have around 60diggs and 100 social bookmarks /PER PAGE!!!
don't worry folks...copy and paste..as long as you respect the site conditions

I place a new article. 10 points for me.

You ripp it off. You place it your site. 5 points to you.

Get the idea? Now, if you still want to use duplicate content, be my guest :)

Your site might not be ban, but your content will have lesser value as it was duplicated.

Lets just clear this up once and for all. Duplicate content, according to Google's official webmaster policies, applies only to websites that have duplicate pages (i.e. duplicate content within website.com). For a citation link and some more info, check out this post I made on content rewriting.

Can you show us a page or site that ranks higher in serp's for competitive keywords and has only content ripped from somewhere else.

I never saw one, nada, zip, niente; but i see alot of cheaters that ripp my original content (btw, #1, #3, #6 in serp's) and when they duplicate it, they are nowhere to be seen in Google. Surely not in first 20 pages.

So i'll say it again, cheaters that duplicate content, go ahead. Be my guest.

You can rank for duplicate content, I myself have made sites with 100% of the content scraped from other sites, and still got over 1000/day from Google.

How did you come up with that conclusion? My personal experience shows that using duplicate content in on site or off site is really "BAD"... Thanks

hhhmmmm... i'm not so convinced about that. can you give me more specific example? and evidence? But i guess, if its pretty much true, its not so bad to SEOs.
