I suppose that most of us DPers would say we are "search engine optimizers" for our own sites, although not professionals for hire. I love the title my married daughter uses on one website to describe herself as a happy, at-home mother of a baby. She calls herself a "domestic engineer"!
Why on earth would you admit to it? I tell my loved ones I spend so much time on the computer because I'm looking at midget porn.
I had to stop myself from making a scene at my job when I read this. In answer to the OPs question, when you tweak your website and its Natural Search rank improves in relation to the tweaks you made I would imagine?
For $20 I can give you a certificate saying you are a SEO Engineer, interested? Just kidding, as far as I know there is no way of proving you are a a SEO.
I'm too busy search optimizing to answer your question http://www.google.com/search?q=top+...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a I'm on page one of Google...for the moment for top 10 electric guitars Does what make me a search engine optimizer?
Well you can call yourself a DIY SE Optimizer once you've actually gotten to the first page of one of your keywords through the things you've learnt. You can call yourself an expert once you can rank for competitive, two or threee word phrases on all of the big 3 search engines; google, yahoo, msn.
i would say that you could class your self as an SEO when you have succesfully ranked on the first page for SEO? However then you have people who are not in that market but are still optimising there website for other markets. Hmmm tricky one. I suppose the obvious answer would be when a person has finally achieved there first page or first position ranking for the keyword they have been focusing on. However these would then mean a person could go and find a keyword with 100 results and rank on the first page and class themselves an SEO. Will.
It appears that I can call myself an SEO, but I won't tell anyone about it for tomorrow the algorithm would have changed.
I am just a friendly webmaster making money from the fad that is called internet. Jack of all trades but only a master of few
Well it generally takes me a day to get a Squidoo lens to the front of Google, and some of them bring in a few hundred a month. So I would consider myself a search engine optimizer
