Hi, Can you please give me some suggestions on how to improve the design/style of my new directory site? It is brand new and i only opened it a few hours ago. Spent about 3-4 hours on the site altogether. Rob www.greatdirectory.net
I'd make some sort of logo or design for the top left in place of just the text for your site name. The footer area looks off in FireFox at least. I think you should make the middle line to be centered. Otherwise, looks good and nice job.
It looks like a great design especially with so little time involved. Congrats and I wish you all the success. I submitted my forum to the directory.
So that is why the footer is not working correctly. 1. Fixed the footer problem (caused by a typo as showed above). 2. Added a simple and effective logo. When i visit a directory full of ads it puts me off, don't know about you though. I would rather leave it as it is, as far as advertisements are concerned, but thanks for the suggestion. Does anyone else have any ideas? Rob
Thanks for the comments. I would have liked to have done more to it, but i think if i add any more it would ruin the clean design. Rob
I really like the looks of it. It looks like a directory is supposed to look, and that's a big thing. I can only tell you what I would do if it was my site, so here goes. You have an excellent domain. I don't think I would use a logo. I would change the title to read "The Great Directory". Have it read in one line, straight across the header. Use the lettering style you have now. You still get all the keyword advantage that you have now, just add the word "the" to the title of the page. It will give it more authority.. like it was the first one. It won't be like "hey this is a great directory" which is what you have now, and that's good, but it will be more like "Let me consult The Great Directory" like it's the mother of all directories. An Oracle to be consulted. Also, by doing that, little taglines and text throughout the page will sound cooler.." You must wait up to 2 weeks for your links to appear in The Great Directory" I know I'm rambling, I just think you really have something to work with here.
