when you pay for directory submission srvc and a week, almost 2 weeks, later your site still shows no backlinks from yahoo or google. This was a 500 directory package..I found just one link from a dir after about 4 confirmation click emails. I'd expect at least 50 to 100+ to show up by now. what about you?
Hello.... Your Email should have been zinging as soon as they started and within a few hours you should have had atleast 100 "confirmation emails" from different directories. I sounds like you where taken advantage of.... sorry thx malcolm
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I got all the confirmation emails I could handle and confirmed them. what is weird is no links when verifying with Yahoo or Google
If your site was submitted to a bunch of high PR directories, expect to wait quite a while before your submissions get reviewed (if ever). Remember that it takes time for your submissions to be reviewed. How many approvals have you received so far? Then it can take the search engines weeks to discover and index those links. It's possible a good portion of the links you received will appear on pages that are not indexed. Be patient and keep an eye on the approvals and denials. If you are getting approvals, then the submitter did his job. If you are not getting many, after two weeks, you may want to contact the person that submitted for you and explain the problem. In most cases they will try to work with you. Good luck
Snowbird has a point. High PR directories must be receives 100s of submissions per day and they have been able to retain their PR because they have been accepting quality sites only. Have some patience and check for approvals in 2-3 weeks. If you looking for quick approval get your site submitted to new directories. But keep in mind that they may take some time before getting indexed. Either way, results of a directory submission job don't show on google webmaster backlinks or yahoo siteexplorer backlinks before 2-3 weeks.
You might want to just take a small random sample out of the big bunch and contact them directly to see what is going on. Beginning, middle, and end of the list. Hopefully they will be kind enough to respond. Just say you would like to know the status on your link submission. If you don't get an answer, then you know its the backlog that everyone else is talking about. If you do get an answer that is something like 'what link?' then you can contact the service you used to question them about delivery. Of course you can only do this if the company you used provided you a list of the 500 they submitted to. I hope everything works out for you.
Personally, I don't trust those kind of packages, etc. Even if you got backlinks, they are from a PR0 page... (they don't link you from homepage..rite?) So, for me.. it's just another way of wasting money.
Ask for the submissions detail and check the last activity date of each directory. Several submissions services use large lists full of neglected directories which remain online but without recent additions. (Often more than 2 or 3 months). And next time you should require a minimum approval rate guaranteed(after some weeks)
you are definately cheated as it is impossible that 500 submissions delivers just 4 confirmation emails. Have you opted manual submission or automated ones??
@Matrix: read what the OP said in his post later The links are not showing on google / yahoo.. So it's possible that his submission was actually accepted but the SEs have not indexed those directory pages yet.
The page your website was submitted to must be cached by the search engines in order to receive any link juice at all. Many of the free directories have very few if any cached topic pages.
very few if any cached topic pages...ahhh that and weeks or months out before they are spidered. I never paid attention much before to how quickly they are counted. But don't worry it's only a small matrix of what I do to get backlinks. I know those packages don't bring too much. thanks for the info. it makes sense
