    Hi,

    I am planning to start a website which is non English site. What is the best way to create a site with non English site?

    Also, How to overcome the Font problem ? The users will not be able to read the content unless they install respective font. So, how this can be solved? Is there any way ?

    What are the marketing stragies we can follow to build/market/increase traffic a non-english site.

    let me know.

    thanks :)

    For example, a German wanting to read a German web site already has German font installed. So you don't have to worry about that.

    Its better to create both English and non English content.The user should be abel to select his choice.
    For link building you can use non English directory submission.and link exchange.

    What language are you planning on using? Is it a latin-based language?

    I think there sholdn't be a problem with the font not installed. Especially if it is a poetry site. People who can read poetry in that language must have the font installed.

    From my guess, may be 10% of people will have the font installed. From my experience, it is hard to request people to install a font to view a site. not everyone has access to install font. (I mean privilege to install font)

    It could be best if you develop your site in both language English and Non English, or you can suggest Google translator (http://translate.google.com/translate_t) to convert one language to other

    does that Indian language have very specific set of characters? Isn't it possible to write with latin letters and put a link like "If you want to read the original please install this font" or something like this?

    basically it is a poetry like website/blog. So, the automated tools will not translate properly.
    I know we can put up something to install the font. However, it will not help us much if the user can't install the font. I also thought of putting the content as pictures. then the content will not be searchable and not accessible by Search engines.

    I am developing foreign sites as well, and I have the same issue. I have found no real way around it, other than doing as some people have already recommended and having it in english as well (even though that is not an option for you).

    One question though, if the font you are using is so rare, how are people going to find the site? Does google support searches in that language? Just curious.

    Good luck.
